Bored and curious really.
Does the type of yard affect the type of horse that are stabled there?
Our yard is mainly Tbs / TBX or WBs. Hovis and Timmy are the only heavies / cob types and Tim is just used in the school now although did event with the YO in his day.
Our YM / instructor competes BSJA and most of the yard do SJ only with a bit of hunting for some variety.
In fairness no one is that snobby about what they do or the type of horse they have but there is a noticeable lack of cobs etc.
What about where you are?

My yard is mostly kids/teenagers with wizzy showjumping ponies. Similarly to you, our YO's daughter competes in showjumping, so a lot of the kids on the yards do too. The yard also holds showjumping shows, so they all love it.

It does range from wizzy ponies, to bigger TB/WB types though, and there's one Haffy and one other cob.

I think I'm the only one who's into flatwork and showing. But little do they know I plan to convert them all

Just 4 of us - complete mix - one hanoverian dressage horse v flashy but getting on a bit now. My nutty arab. Coloured cob all rounder and baby Welshie (well we think thats what he is!!)
Old yard was a mixture of WB and all rounders but was extremely bitchy about my lad being a happy hacker, and us not wanting to go to shows!!

We seem to have mainly m+m's on our yard, altho there are a few TB's, Warmbloods, ISH Everyone is mainly a happy hacker, riding club, hunter etc. No serious competitors. They are all a lovely bunch of people and there is no bitchiness on the yard.

We have

Farra - 5 year old 16.3 clydie mare
Chancer - 5 year 15.1 old gypsy cob
Dolly - 15 year 15.3 old gypsy horse
Chessy - 22 year old 14.1 - connie/welsh mare
Bob - 25 year old 14.2 appy pony

Small quiet yard of adult owners with a couple of teens who share Chessy and Dolly and also ride my two from time to time.

Our yard is suited to sensible steady types - we have dog agility club two nights a week in the school which is very noisy and busy, and our YO does not want to deal with anything that is difficult to handle.

Lots of competition riders at mine and a slight bias to dressage. So, lots of WBs and WB crosses, an ID, few TBs. But also a happy hacker, a couple with a few Paso Finos (gaited horses!) and me with an Appaloosa.

The yard I was at before I moved had 8 horses/ponies including mine. They were owned by 4 adults, two happy hackers, one who’s horse was retired and one who did endurance.

The horses were:

3 x TB’s, all ex racehorses
2 x Cobs

Our yard is mostly natives and cobs (13 out of 15) with two TB's.

Yard is mostly suited to happy hackers as we have direct access to a bridleway and good turnout but turnout as a herd.

7 of us show and do dressage and two of us jump (all at local level), the rest hack.

I think we have a capacity of 76 in total, and we're fully at the moment, this includes:

1 Mini stallion
1 NF
1 Welsh Cob (mine)
1 Coloured Cob
4 Brood mares
The rest are TB, Warmbloods or WB or TB cross

Its a pretty uneven split

its a competition yard, with mostly dressage horses, some of those are youngsters others are in for breaking or schooling etc...gets pretty busy!!

12 racehorses all in training

1 ex racehorse (Happy) who hunts. He thinks he's far superior to the racehorses despite living in a tiny wooden shed whereas they live in superior luxury in huge stables. He thinks this because he gets to go on jollies going hunting and off for rides with his girlfriends and doesn't have to overexert himself at all. He doesn't realise the racehorses look down on him for being useless racing and obese compared to them.

About 40 or 50 horses on the yard I think, almost are Belgian warmblood, with us having Dutch and German WBs. One pure TB, a couple of cobs & some heavier irish type pones in the RS.

The yard breaks & sells babies to SJing homes & hangs on to them & brings them on over a few years though so this is the current crop really.

Deffo a stigma attached to hotbloods as the WBs they have with a lot of blood in them are swines - I reckon PB TBs are a damn sight easier than what they've got!

The smallest on our yard is just shy of 15hh. She is a little coloured cob type pony.
Me and my friend have the two ex-racers.
The rest are Warmbloods with one or two crosses and an ID.
9/10 are competition horses.
