What's the most you have spent on a horse?

Most expensive was £4.5 k, he was a mistake as I realised I bought him for my trainer at the time to ride, not me. (Wouldnt fall for that again!)
The cheapest was an 11hh pony for £300, she is a total dream, and worth her weight in gold, her sadlle cost alot more than she did.
 
The most we've ever spent was £1500, but most or our ponies and horse have been on loan. If we had the money we'd willingly spend it on a really good horse my sister as she wants to event properly but hasn't got much experience beyond Novice so would want a schoolmaster.
 
my big girl cost £800 my colt was £100 and my daughters ponys cost £150 each they are the most lovable bunch ever and do what i want them for most i would spend is prob £3000 but i would want a perfect horse for that
 
I paid £8,000 for Tom but he had just got 5th at HOYS in the LW Hunters and was MEANT to be a schoolmaster (he is not a schoolmaster!!) but dont regret buying him.
I bought Dutchy 2 mnths ago he is 17.2 5 yrs old and by Cavalier and his Dam sire is nimmerdor. He was very poor and we werent able to ride him just saw him trotted up. I paid £2,000 for him and got free delivery from near wales to Southwell races. I will tell you wether or not he was worth it when I hopefully ride him for 1st time Tuesday.

Best one I ever had cost me £800 which was a bargain as he'd been bought & sold for around 5K a few years earlier. No reasons really for the price cut, only that he'd been on a downward spiral as he was a bit quirky.

Unfortunately I lost him after 3 years & went out & replaced him with a horse who had similar capabilities that cost me 4.5K. That horse turned out a bit of a nightmare & I sold him 4 years later for 2.5K. A very expensive mistake which I hopefully won't repeat.
 
When I was looking for a horse I mentioned to my OH that i would quite like a Fresian so bless him he called up one of the Premier Fresian Breeders in Holland and asked if he had any suitable horses for sale.

On being told yes we have 3 mares and 3 geldings ready for sale now, all broken and lightly brought on why not come down to try them all and your wife can take her pick.

Oh made the appointment and just as he was about to hang up said oh by the way what prices are they to be told the Mares are 15,000 and the Geldings are 12,500.

Bless him he had to call back and make some excuse a day later and a week later he bought me Vardi he cost 2,500 as a 3 year old.

Everytime Vardi has a vet bill I take great pleasure in saying "should have brought the Fresian would have worked out cheaper"

My last horse Rocky cost me £800 as a yearling, he turned out to be a superstar and I sold him to MFH for £6000.
He later sold him to the states for £30,000!!! How gutted was I?

Axel cost me £900 as a yearling and he is also a superstar although not quite as straightforward as Rocky was, Axel won the PBA and AA UK championships as a 3yr old PBA and Arab 1st cross. Don't think I would ever sell him as he's a bit quirky!!
 
Nothing!!! Zero!!! Zip!!! Nada!!!

I've been very lucky in that the horses I have owned (including current one) have been given to me, and with all their tack/rugs, etc too. Other times, I have ridden other people's which I could treat as my own. In virtually all cases, I already knew the horse too.

If it ever comes to actually having to look for a horse from scratch, I wouldn't have a clue what to look for, as my horses have all been so different but all so good! And I'd have the shock of actually having to shell out some of my hard-earned!
 
most i paid for £4.5k for Pilfer- worth every single penny.

he had already won at BE PN, jumps anything you point him at, is a good doer, nice to hack etc.

he took me from falling off at Intro to winning at PN in 6 events when i was 17.

the rest have all cost less than £2.2k- all bought as youngsters as you get much more for your money.
 
The most expencive is a very well bred unbroken 4yr old welsh sec a he was £1000 but i only paid for half of him. The most expencive i have bought on my own was an un touched 3 yr old cob he was £600. All the rest have been free to who ever wants/ can catch them or £500 inclu all tack, rugs etc... (so basicaly free) But apart from the sec a and the cob they have all been problem horses and if i didn't have them they would have gone for meat. (just call me a sucker)
 
i paid £12,500 for Delicia, a reduced price as i knew her breeders fairly well. she is a little star!!! been offered a LOT of money for her but as she will never be sold she is priceless

6k for the grey in my siggy- he had bags of jump and had done a bit of bsja and bd as a 4 and 5 year old so i thought i was getting masses of talent- instead i got a napping machine

paid 2.5k for the TB and 5k for V.....as an unbroken baby but i would have paid much more for him now 12 months down the line...i'm not very good at bargaining tho- i just see one i like and then fall in love....
