When I was looking to buy I was amazed at some of the names people had called their horses.

So whats the worst horse name you have heard.

One that sticks in my mind was Valerie, why on earth would you call your horse Valerie? Apologies to anyone with a horse / pet called Valerie!

See, I really like human names for horses (all animals) and think Valerie is quite cool. Also used to know a horse called Audrey and thought that was amazing.

I more dislike names that are bit...cheesy.

I bought a horse from a friend who had bred him and had called him Bummer (stable name), a lot of people said I should change it but it suited him so we kept it but it did get shortened to Bums, however if we were at shows and he played up I would get strange looks when I shouted his name out!!!

So out pops a teeny weeny foal and the first name that comes to someones head is ' Stir Fry'? Must have been what they were having for tea that night.

Me too, for example I noticed one of the forum memebers on here has a dog called Steve (sorry DD)...comical but I love it, an a horse called Audrey...fantastic.

Andy Powell! As in the rugby player who drove a golf cart down the M4. My Friend's poor shire foal is called this- the vets who were caring for him named him before she took ownership of him, they chose that name as he was a bit dim when he was first born, bless

Our welshie is called Gladys, which I've always thought was a bit odd for a horse!

I usually quite like 'human' names for animals but also knew one called Dave which never seemed very horse-like to me.

'Sausage' is another strange one I've heard.

When I was horse shopping I looked at a Roger

I ended up buying an Orvis, alot of people get confused with his name

Malcolm - love it!

I have one called Garry.

My friend owns two horses called Cabbage and Nutter. He bought them with these names!

LOL Cabbage is amazing! Sadly Malcolm is the stable name of my Dads racehorse. I hate it so have taken to calling him 'chops' instead! definitely an improvement on Malcolm
