As the title says really

Yesterday I found half a dead rook in ponys stable - no idea how it got there - also found the blade to a knife in her stable once - it was just a blunt butter knife thing thank god! I always check hay carefully and the bags of shavings!

We were taking about it the other day - what odd things have you found when ? :-)

my friend lost her mobile phone, then found it two weeks later in her horses stable, it had been mucked out everyday though! Very strange!

Did a full muck out on Friday and found a pair of pliers.....god knows how they got there

but were well and truly buried in a corner. Was wondering if horse had taken up DIY skills.

I found a dead lamb's head in the corner of one of my shavings stables last Thursday. My delightful terrier often buries things in there for 'later' but usually it's just bones.

I had a pigeon move into Jack's stable at our old yard. then after a while there were a nest full of them flying in and out.

When ma pony died in 2001, i was mucking the box out and i found a vertabra in there.. not possibly Kings, i think the dogs had buried it in there, I was 13 at the time and it ripped me appart to find that after such a short time.

Last week i found.. to name a few things,
- a green ball
- a dog chew
- a slipper..

Daisy the dog has decided to move in with Ted!

Found a (sharp) knife in the bottom of the donkeys stable when i mucked it out a couple of weeks ago. No, it was nothing to do with me.. the donkeys and stables came with the new house.

I dropped my phone battery in my bed once, I couldn't find it, even when I carefully sifted through ALL the bed and put it by the door where there usually isn't any bedding, no joy, so I carefully sifted it back into place, still no battery.

3 weeks later I found it. Now someone explain that one to me?

A newt - it was in the corner of the pony stable. Luckily I had a water bottle with me to popped it in there and it went to live in M&D's pond

A dead rat in my boys water bucket. I made my boyfriend chuck it on the muck heap and scrub out the bucket because I was too freaked!
Oh and a half eaten dustpan and brush - my mum put the horse to bed and left it in there. Only ever found half the brush though so guessing horse ate it, was a worrying couple of days!

A toad!

I ran out squealing and my friend had to come and rescue me

I don't like jumpy things.

I've also found a toad holed up in B's bed, I think he'd crawled in there to hibernate. Poor bugger didn't want to be disturbed but I think B would've squashed him at some point during the winter so I put him in a corner of the hay barn instead

Me too - not the screaming bit but finding a toad in amongst the poo corner. Just scooped it up and took it outside for a bit of a wash as it had all the bits of straw and stuff stuck to it. Didn't look too well to be honest and a bit dehydrated but I just chucked it in the pondy bit and hoped for the best. He would have been a lot worse off if Jack had stood on him with his dinner plate sized feet!

a half eaten envelope with my name on it and a Thorowgood business card stapled on it!
.....then found a red flexi curve whilst mucking out.

usual stuff really chicken eggs....the odd nest...half eaten crimbo cards

Sheep poo yesterday, as we've got some pet lambs on the livery now, so they's obviously favored my stable to do some pebble dashing in!

A beautifully dried preserved toad which obviously came out of a bale of hay, yuk
And a dead rat, underneath a full water bucket.... how did that get there???!!

Found a dying bat in my stable and PC camp years and years ago. RSPCA was called.

Not so much found but....... my sister was standing in the corner of one of our stables singing (not sure what) and a bird fell out of the roof on her head... dead. We've never let her live that one down.

A totally suicidal mouse... I keep corn oil in an old Coca-Cola bottle in one of our stables along with the other feed stuff. The little horror chewed through the lid every day for a week and I kept finding him in there and having to rescue him (covered in oil and squeaking indignantly). Then I refilled the bottle, went away for the weekend and when I came back he had drowned himself (AGAIN) in the oil. I was so mad! But at least he never bothered with the horses' feed..!
