Given up looking for a decent brown leather saddle, and they never fit. With dermot likely to change shape looking at a wintec close contact, what are they like? Bare in mind for youngster so might need sit a buck

I really like bates close contact how do these compare? In fact I just love close contacts

i have the wintec close contact and the Pessoa close contact, huge difference in price and quality, rarely use wintec now as it just doesnt compare to Pessoa, they are both in Newmarket colour. never tried bates, but i believe the wintec is based on the bates caprelli version

I would like a pessoa idealy but every time it crosses my mind my wallet runs and hinds mainly coz theres alot going out my acount, land, rugs, livery, vet bills list doesn't end....

Would you think the wintec would be good for a youngster? My friend has the gp wintec and tells me shes never sat a buck because the seat just isnt deap.

ive ridden in a wintec close contact and it was the most unnerving saddle i have ever ridden in, because it is synthetic you dont get any grip to hold even a tiny bit in the saddle like leather does, and there are barely any knee rolls at all, i know most close contacts are like this but i have sat in much more secure feeling close contact saddles. However i know plenty of people who have the bates close contact and they love it - say its good value for money and well worth it

I like not having great knee blocks find i get a better jumping poisiton. My mare liberty had a lovely Itialin leather close concact so want some thing similar. I tried a horse which had the bates close conact and just adored it *didnt much like horse* so rode thinking *My horse will be having this saddle*

My horse bucks occasionally and he never had me off in the wintec the or the pessoa which isnt any deeper seated than the wintec. I would try them all out if i were you, see which one suits you.

The Wintec and the Bates CC are both basically the same, but one is synthetic and one leather. They both (Wintec and Bates ones) come in a different version with the suede/equisuede seat, the Wintec Pro or the Bates Momentum (over £1,000 though).
Never sat in one though, but I have a Wintec GP with equisuede seat and can honestly say I don't come unstuck with that!

I have a momentum and adore it, it really connot be compared to any of the other saddles in the range! But i'm biased. The wintec is exactly the same to sit in as the CC, it is the same tree, and you can buy bigger knee blocks for it if you like.

I bought one for my last mare and it fitted her terribly tot he point where I never rode her in it, yet her Bates saddle, with the same sized gullet fit her fine.
I personally dont like the wintec CC but have had no problems with the wintec 500,

I used to have one but had trouble getting it to fit my horse, i bought basically for value of money and my horse was still growing but found that i had to use asheepskin pad because otherwise the saddle lifted off her back. When i had the saddler out he said whatever i did to the wintic it just wasn't right for her. I also didn't find it very secure for jumping, for everday riding and hacking it was fine. Do you know anyone that has one you could borrow or could a saddler bring one out to you so you could try before you buy?
