whats the worst comment youve ever had.........

The most recent was when I was trying to get a dressage saddle to fit. The saddler said she wasnt the right shape to do dressage.

Shes had lots of comments over the years. My YO is constantly winding me up saying she should be on the meat wagon and that I should sell her. He loves her really.

The worst comment was probably from my dad, but he actually bought Ed and he loves him really - goes to see him when he checks the cows and strokes him - denies it though

He has told me many times that the he (as in ed not himself

) belongs with the meat man.

My boyfriend likes to state the obvious and call him fat. "You jumped him? Really? I would have thought he was too fat to jump over anything!"

A lot of people from college used to b*tch about him because he is only 13.1 and in his 20's.

I got told many times that Taz was insane, worthless and a waste of space, and more than once people said he should be shot. Infact one YO actually threatened to shoot him herself

He was a star to me though.

My husband used to hunt his 16 hand mare (husband nearly six foot) and people sat on their big hunters used to comment "here comes S on his pony" Funny thing was when they needed a lead into a 6ft hedge they didn't think she was a pony then!!!

Used to annoy me on my old yard that people wouldn't walk past my mare when she was tied up outside her stable cos she kicked (she'd never kicked anyone).

Also had a friend who had a shire x, who looked like a small shire, people used to laugh and say can't do dressage on that. I took him to a local competition and came 4th first time out. Judge thought he was wonderful and made a point of coming over to talk to us.

I often get told that Maiden is fat (even when she had a big belly but was obviously showing ribs and was in poor condition), ugly, built like a train/tanker/tank, her legs are like small upright tree trunks, she's never going to win anything, she'll never do anything other than hack, why am I bothering to try and jump her etc. etc. Some people also wonder why I'm willing to give her 14 months total off work and still pay to keep her, instead of just shooting her.
Ok so now she is actually fat, and she's certainly not built right (back too long, legs too upright, short thick neck, huge head), but she's a superstar and such a confidence giver. She's worth the world to me.
Actually the most shocking positive comment I had came from our yard farrier, who is very very picky about horses and hates 99% of them. He actually said that Maiden is a "cracking sort" and he really likes her! That meant a lot, coming from him!

there are some mean people around arnt there, all our horses are special to us hey ?
who cares what the jealous or non horsey peeps think, everyone give your gs an extra big hug tonite for being themselves and giving us the fun and love we get from them

I've been told my horse is 'vicious' and 'dangerous' in the field. I will agree that she is a dominant mare but she certainly isn't vicious or dangerous and has never injured another horse. She is all bluster. Also had friends told they are 'brave' to turn out with her. This all by the same woman who has had it in for me since she arrived at the yard.

My YO / boss / instructor tells me frequently that Polly has something wrong up in her head which is why she will go perfectly for 6 strides... then freak out and race off like a lunatic for 6 strides... then perfect again... He may have a point about this

Most people think he's stunning and lovely natured. The only "off" comments I get are from my OH, who calls him the Walking Glue Factory and says he's as dopey and as big a Woos as Donkey from Shrek.

A group of us were talking about having horses put to sleep. I said that if it came to it, I'd defo have my horse shot. One of the group, said "well, let's face, you should have that shot now".

I went off on one a bit - and she said "I was only joking". Ha ha I say.

Someone saw me on my Nf gelding and asked 'is he welsh?' Im not a welsh fan atal so was not impressed!

Next was a bit**y girl at a yard that was annoyed because her mare was such a flirt and was teasing my gelding so he kept mounting her! She then said behind my back, 'i hope my horse kicks him in the face.' If only she could have been adult about the situation!

Someone told me my horse was "dangerous and I should get rid of him" because he is an ex racer TB and can be a bit unpredictable. This was after he bucked me off at our first attempt at a clear round!

my old pony Star was known for being a grumpy bugger someties and liked to buck to avoid doing any work. Most hurtful thing was when my friend overheard the yard owner saying Star should have gone to the meat man years ago, and I was too big for him and wound him up(when riding)!
Needless to say pony and me had a very happy time together then he was sold to a family with younger kids and is happily teaching them the ropes!

haha, i'd forgotten this one till now. when i was working for Leslie Law, he was telling another rider how easy it was to win events and get points in Wales, and i quote verbatim, "cos they're all on pit ponies over there." (how charming, btw.)
i started laughing, thinking he was joking, and he said nastily "I don't know what you're laughing about, yours is a pit-pony too."
my 16.3 IDxTB gelding by Smooth Stepper (so, not quite a pit pony actually) and I then managed to get the same dressage as him at our first CCI* that autumn, and beat him because we finished on our dressage score. HA. i didn't work for him any more at that point.
