What's the worst yard chore?

I've just come back from two hours of muck picking and electric fence moving and I think these are my least favourite jobs. There isn't anyone to talk to, it hurts my hands and you can't do it quickly how ever hard you try! Plus my horses are moulting and aren't even nice to look at whilst I'm out there at the moment. Mucky, scruffy beasties that they are!

What does everyone else hate doing?

Oh yea electric fence assembly/moving is an awful job! Of daily jobs though its got to be filling haynets....I really despise it!

Used to be doing the hay nets, but we no longer use them any more. My worst chore has to be sweeping the yard, no matter how many times I sweep I still miss bits. And it gives me blisters!

I like sweeping. I drive OH mad making him help me. (he also is of the opinion that it is pointless as it only lasts 2 mins) It looks so much better when it's done though. It's probably actually my favourite. I must be weird :)

Well, luckily for me my horses live out 24/7 on private land so I don't have to face many chores. They have stables as field shelters so when they do actually need mucking out, it is a **** job (literally, har har) and hay net filling for when the farrier comes is a real pain. When I was younger I would do anything to avoid poo-picking (I was a spoilt little moron) but now I enjoy being out in the field with the horses. Plus I find it a satisfying job when the field looks all nice again afterwards.

Having said that, it wasn't so funny when I filled my poo barrow right up to the top yesterday and then Cookie the shetland knocked it over trying to rub his bum... :p

Looking for things lost in the field! Over reach boots, field safe headcollar straps, etc.

A close second is pooh picking in the field. :)

I always hated poo picking, and once gave myself heatstroke doing it. I find it much easier now OH has a quad and logic muck collector, brilliant! At the moment it is grooming the four inch long coats out of my minis, no matter how long I spend they still look like the moths have been at them! I now look like I'm wearing a hair shirt too!!

I think mine is trying to get all of the straw out of my boots and from down my top when i have mucked out....and having to get changed at the yard after riding/mucking out into non horsey clothes without getting the non horsey clothes horsey again! (OH is allergic to horses)

Electric fence assembly - why is it I always end up in knots!?
Scrubbing the scank out of the bottom of the water troughs when its trough cleaning time!
Clearing the drains - so smelly.
Hanging wet and muddy NZ rugs up - I always end up wetter and muddier than anyone else I know, and to add insult to injury 'they' say its because Iam a short arse!! Thanks. (5'4'' BTW)

Filling up water buckets! Unrolling the hoses, attaching them putting them in the buckets running to turn them on, running back, going to turn them off again, having to roll them up, they get stuck so you have to keep going to untangle/free them, ARGGGHHHH!

I have to agree poo picking is the worst. Apart from the twice a year when the electric fence has to be moved. Nothing can top that, it takes forever, all gets tangled and is muddy and makes your fingers so cold they nearly fall off. Seriously, hell can't even beat that. At least it would be warm down there.

The fields have just been propperly sectioned off by permanant fencing now though, so no more leccy fence! What a happy day :D

Poo picking, although don't mind when weather is nice.

Moving electric fence.

Abd tack cleaning... I must be the laziest person at that, only do it if I go to a show, or it looks really bad!

poo picking the field as i seem to think iv cleared the whole field then notice iv missed some and cant leave it. It just seems to take ages, when the weathers nice i seem to get too hot and when its not its usually raining so get soaked.

I must be really weird cos I love poo-picking and squaring off the muck heap but I hate, hate, hate filling haynets!

Haha! I second looking for lost things in the field, seem to spend half my life looking for lost shoes, fly masks and grazing muzzles!!

I dont mind poo picking! I hate having to fill waters in the field though...especially when their paddock has been moved and its further to drag buckets etc!!

Poo picking without a doubt! I have 3 fields to do daily, all on the side of a hill, and try and do it first thing in the morning or will find other jobs to do to put it off! Love mucking out so actually relieved once Winter comes.....!

Filling up water buckets and carrying them back to the stable without creating mini tidle waves. Although I have learned a new trick where by you thread a lead rope through the handle of the bucket and drag it. Super!

Second putting away the hay delivery, horrid job! Also stable roof mending in the rain and wind, Iget wet cold and fed u so that the girls can stay, warm dry and happy!

O, I'd forgotten about the hay delivery. We moved enough for a whole winter for 25 horses last autumn. Misery!
