Gah I'm meant to be competing a friends horse on Sunday, but theres gonna be 29 mile per hour winds.

We cancelled last week (only about 17 miles per hour winds0 because we were worried about the wind, and I've been soooo looking forward to it.

Of course I don't want to compromise the horses safety, but any ideas? It'd be a trailer by the way.

I traveled to /from a comp in 30 mph winds last weekend. Just drop your speed to a level where the wind has lessimpact on the lorry or trailer. IE I normally travel at around 50mph but drop down to around 40mph or less in strong winds.

Yeah we're pretty hilly too.

It's dropped down to 16 miles per hour now though! And gone from heavy showers to constant light rain. So we might be able to go afterall!

My biggest concern is because someone on my yard had her old trailer and car go over (she has a lorry now) along a stretch of motorway by us, on a not particularily windy day. Luckily her horses were fine but not exactly something I fancy doing in the near future.

I think maybe for my mum (she's a nervous trailer driver lmao) and my surrounding area might be too windy, but hopefully 16 miles per hour winds will be okay?

when the wind starts shoving the trailer round you need to stay at home!
before you load up ponies go for a drive in the car (the one that will be pulling the trailer) and see how it feels when hit by the wind!

That's a really good idea actually..If its undecisive tomorrow..i.e. not so windy its a DEF no no but rather windy we can try that.

I had this dilemma yesterday morning. Had to be at the vets for 8.30pm, but when i got up it was torrential rain and VERY strong winds. I'm a confident driver but I said there was no way we were going. Fortunately I sat tight for an hour and the wind dropped really quickly. It was just a light breeze by the time we went.

Tomorrow is supposed to be winds of up to 80mph. I definitely wouldnt be going anywhere. Also are you going to have much fun there if its throwing it down and blowing a gale???

Apparantly my area is up to 30mph, I def wouldn't be going if it was 80mph! Though need to see tomorrow..

Luckily its indoors so once we're there, we're okay its just getting there. =/
