What's up with my ponio?

My horse seems to be fine, he's in good shape and does everything I ask him to. During winter he was out 4 hours a day (having been stuck in for 4 months in his previous home!) and now he is out all day and sometimes all night as well.

Im not terribly worried about him, but he does seem to have developed a slightly worrying habit.

When hes brought in for me (about 4pm) and I get there at 5.30 to ride, he stands with his head in the back corner of his stable and digs his bed up, looking really depressed. As soon as I feed him or ride him he is fine.

Is he just being sulky because he's been brought in or have I got a manic depressive and should be doing more?

does he have hay/water when he's brought in. B would sulk too if he had to stand in his stable for over an hour with nowt to nibble on.

Perhaps he is chilling out, after being out in the field???

He may not want the hay after having grass or the water if there is a nice manky trough (they all prefer green sludge)!!

But then again if he is digging his bed he doesnt sound chilled

It is very chilled digging admittedly, not mad furious digging! He's so lazy I dont think he would bother! Brought him in tonight and he came running up to me in the field, gave him a bath and plaited him for Aintree tomorrow and he seemed in good spirits! Will keep an eye on him, think he's just a miserable old man!

He's not digging to do a pee is he?

My horse sometimes does that if he feels there is not enough bed to pee on so it doesn't splash his legs.

He's obviously TB x with a cat!!!
