What's wrong with helping dog's in the UK?

I have never rescued a dog - that's what rescue organisations do. And if I were to have another dog that is where I would go to get one.

I'm amazed that anyone could comment even tenuously in support of importing a dog from abroad when so many ate in need here.

And as for organisations such as the subject of this post - they ate scammers, money makers and dealers in misery.
 
Have read through the thread, I have always felt concern for the dogs travelling from the Irish Republic to the UK picked up by various rescues here in the UK. In addition in recent times it is becomming more common to see rescues involved in bringing dogs into the UK from Romania and Turkey as well as Greece. Maybe it would not appear so disturbing if they were all being carried by air transport (pet carriers) but to know they are being transported 2 days by road in all weather conditions it is not acceptable. Does anyone have any knowledge regards the carriers are they using pet carriers or just hiring or using their own vehicles for the journey?
Was the rescue free2run previously known as Bank End Equine Rescue connected to Reflex Equestrian and Norton Heath Equestrian Centre?

BER was a whole different can or worms.

Original F2R was an off shot from Reflex importing horses. Reflex, F2R and NHEC now bring in dogs from Romania. Same dibble as before just different animals. :rolleyes:

I know 1 of the carriers used managed to lose 2 dogs and then lied about where they were lost :( In fact the original story was that 1 of the dogs was picked up by a woman pretending to be from a rescue and the other dog had been re homed to a friend of the man who was the carrier of the dogs. Who knows if they were even really lost, I have a bad feeling something else happened (died in transit perhaps?) and they've made up a story about them getting lost :(

Why bring more dogs over when hundreds are pts every week here!! We have a huge problem with unwanted dogs.

And I have a rescue dog and I saw the hundred of so others there looking for a home. For the cost of re homing one dog from Romania you could help 10 over here! Rescues are crying out for donations/foster homes/permanent homes!
