What's wrong with this horse?

Admin - please do not delete it is not my horse, I'm after genuine 'critique' regarding its price.

Okay, so I spotted this horse on Horsemart and showed him to my OH because since owning my girl I am a little partial to arabs. He's a nice size, nice age, nice price and sounds nice. £2k price tag.

I'm 99.99% sure that OH is joking but he keeps coming up with scenarios about having a second horse. He wants to visit, but I've said 'no' we would just be time wasters.

So, what do you guys think, can you spot something wrong? I've googled the sellers, they seem genuine. The jumping picture looked an unusual angle but I don't really know.

i dont see anything wrong with the advert.
Not sure what you mean about the jump piccy being an unusual angle. (I can be pretty dim at times...lol)

Noooh! I need reasons to tell OH why we mustn't have another horse and why this one isn't suitable :)

Guido, no you're not being dim, just it looks rather 'horizontal' most jumping pics are taken with the front legs just going over the jump.

I'm clutching at straws here to persuade OH (okay, and me) why he's no good.

I'm not really suspicious :) When I bought my first horse, I posted lots of 'how about this horse' and got lots of reasons why not on some of the ones I was considering. I learnt loads about conformation and hidden meanings within adverts.

With this advert, he looks fab and a real bargain to boot.

My horse cost me just a bit over £1k including tack and she is an absolute angel, I can't believe there can be 2 'worth the money'.
 
He's a good price for a rideable arab and looks lovely. Having just found my arab after nearly a year looking what I would be wondering is how much he has done: there are a lot of arabs around who seem to be mildly broken at 4 then sit in a field for several years. It also doesn't mention how forward going he is which in my limited experience of the breed ranges from extremely to extraordinarily, which may or may not be a good thing. Some can also be very nervous which is tiresome, whites of the eye showing. I have found in my search that at the moment a well behaved ridden arab with no major flaws is usually advertised between 3500 and 5000. Those needing more education (the vast majority) are typically around 1500 to 2500. There are bargains though, and if he is really sensible and up and running then he looks like one. It's a very small market, and they do not seem to sell well, for reasons which i do not understand.
 
Ah. I see, agree with Kate, the piccy seems to have been taken a second or two to late, hence the not so great outline.

Afraid I cant help you with finding faults!!

Oh, hang on. Its a chestnut Arab, there you go. 2 faults. lol only joking!!

Guido16 - You brave person - I was going to say It's ginger - case closed, but then decided not to as I am not wearing protective head gear & body protector:eek:
 
I think hes very nice, not to keen on the pull of the mouth (or it could be the horse doesn't like the bit?)

But unfortunately being chestnut and an arab would not be a fault in my OH's eyes.

Our current horse is a chestnut, an arab x, and a mare - and we think she is brilliant :)

C'mon, otherwise we going to have to go see....

If he does, cant help I`m afraid, your getting another horses! lol

If he isnt then you could come up with some cock and bull about the conformation being all wrong?
 
No competition record...this really is all I can think of that is missing.

And chestnut :) But the arab bit is a selling point surely!

Why don't you want another horse?
 
He's not that young, but only just started jumping and evidently not much life experience-and he's small for most adults. therefore I think price is reasonable :)
 
That's what I was going to say — 15hh is a bit of a non-height, as out of ponies and small for a horse (stride wise I mean, is obviously small in height!) but if you don't want to affiliate that's not an issue. Looks lovely :)
 
I think he's absolutely gorgeous - if I was in the market I'd be snapping him up.

Not very big, and not too many people are after arabs though - they tend to be cheaper than some other breeds.


Go see him- and then pass him on to me;)
