So my dad got round to putting his slides into a digital format and on a USB key I found this one: it's 1976 at Beeston riding school in Norfolk, mum paid for six lessons, I learned to canter & she then said she couldn't afford any more lessons View attachment 98045
Started ‘proper’ riding only 5 years ago aged 62 so won’t be contributing but looking forward very much to seeing everyone else’s pics from way back ?

I was 3 years old, hounded my Nan and grandad to let me ride a pony. They paid for me to do a pony ride.....I screamed the whole way round and wanted to get off. My grandad said 'you wanted to ride it so you can ride it until the end'
I carried on crying but stayed on until the end of the ride. Not long after that I started riding lessons (2nd photo) and have never looked back.
I thank my lucky stars that my grandad pushed me onto staying on that pony!

This isn't my earliest, I had been riding for a couple of years by this point but I can't find the photos from Mount Mascals!

Me about aged 5 in approx 2000 with my Aunt's family pony that we all rode called Dolly, a dales x cob who was just the best! We didn't win this fancy dress class, lost out to a fresian with a half groom/half bride outfit, but we had a jolly good laugh.

Not the earliest but the earliest I can find. I was maybe just 8 and we had moved out to the States that year and were being introduced to the US hunter jumper system and style of equitation.

Most of the kids rode horses or large ponies, there weren’t many small ponies around, so this little grey pony was pretty unique.
