A fluffier version of flamehead's thread :p

so what are your favourite breeds? :D

I love lots of breeds tbh,

I love the unique-ness and quirky-ness of TB's,
The carefull-ness, and caring nature of warmbloods,
The cheeky-ness of exmoor's.

I love the look of spanish horses, but to date have only handled one, so i dont think i can make a judgement, but he was a three year old colt called Bocetto, a pure-bred grey andulusian - and he was stunning!

your turn! :D

Love Fresians. Never handled one so they might be little buggers but the look is just stunning.

And I love coloured cobs, particularly like ISH but my confidence issues lead me towards chunkier ones.

And best of all I love my little gypsy cob =]

I love Morgans. I grew up in the state of Vermont which is where they originated so I am biased but they are wonderful horses. The classic Morgan is beautiful with a stocky but smooth build, long and thick mane and tail, well-shaped head and small ears. They can also do pretty much anything - ride, drive, jump, dressage, work cattle and even hook up to a plow or haul logs out of the woods.

They have a great, even temperament, are very intelligent and are often used as police horses or in other areas that require a solid, dependable horse.

My first horse was a 4 year old, glossy black Morgan stallion. I was 10. He was as gentle as a kitten and I rode him in parades and on trail rides with no problems. I rode him English and Western, eventually trained him to drive and my dad used him to grub stumps out of our back field. He taught my mother, who was petrified of horses, to ride but gave more experienced riders a fun, animated ride.

I still miss him. :)

Aw - he sounds lovely.
I remember when i was little i had a book that had a list of horse breeds and a really bad drawing of them, all the horses looked horrible, apart from the morgan, they looked beautiful, and i really wanted to ride one, never have, in fact i dont think i've ever seen a morgan :D
you're very lucky! :)

Norwegian Fjords - Their so allround! Jumping, cross country and dressage. They are sweet and work their hearts out for you.
Dutch Warmblood - Graceful and full of manners. Allrounders and they are good at anything, anywhere!

I wondered if there were any in the UK.

These photos are ancient and I had to scan the prints into my computer but this is my beautiful Diablo - all 14.1 hh of him! The first shows my mom riding him and the second is me riding him in a parade - I think I was 12.

might sound stupid but, what is a crabbet ? is it a breeding line?
i volunteered at a stud last year, and the owner wanted a crabbet stallion, granted she had a dodgy accent and i thought she was saying crabbor stallion :D but yanoo.. :D

My favourite breed of horse is, without a doubt, the same breed that probably came out worst of all on Flamehead's other thread - the Arab :-)

They seem to be doing the best on this thread :D

I learnt to ride on an arab mare, called Jessie. she's still going about 27 nowadays i believe :)

hehe thats hard i love them all!
conemarras-i have one
mini shetland-thier sooo cute and funny
welsh sec a-so sweet and i want one hehe
and if i was competing more and bigger and stronger TB's are lovely they have such a nice shine to thier coat and love to go at high speed lol

Yes Crabbet is the line - a very old one imported in by Lord and Lady Blunt from the Bedouin tribes, the stud they were kept at was the Crabbet stud, hence the name. I love them over other lines as they have not been 'over' produced and still look like an arab should, not with a face bent in half and legs that look as if they will snap. Arabs were war horse, strong and with staminar (spp!) the Crabbets can still do their job. They are also wonderful peeps, not nutty or stupid. Cheeky though:) and very clever:D
Arabs should have the face of an angel and the arse of cook - an old Arab breeder friend of mine told me that when I was kid, never forgot it:D

You posted this just to taunt me didn't you? :D

I am VERY jealous

Sorry NeilM, I couldnt resist:D The 31yo purebred I have was supposed to be a Welsh D! but I was 14 and WANTED!!!!!!!!!! a horse - best buy I ever made. Still my best buddy whatever! My 6yo I got as a 2yo and is following in his footsteps beautifully!

I never used to like TBs, but since I got my TBX I think they're fantastic, I love their intelligence, talent and spark.
And I've always had a soft spot for a nice Section D.

Have had Arabians for 20 years, wouldn't be without one in my paddocks now.

I quite like Quarter horses, but they are like Tb's, come in a variety of 'styles' I am not over fond of appendix QH's and some of the halter lines are a bit extreme for my taste.

Highlands for me. Not too big, not too small, tough, don't need massive feeds, tack, rugs etc.

Versatile, can do a bit of everything.

They also come in lovely colours!
