Lovely Northamptonshire again!

Last year was rather crappy for me for various reasons, primarily because I was very wussy about my shiny new knee, but i've given myself a stern talking to, and my motto for this year is definitely
"Just get on with it".
I've got a few lovely horses so as soon as they're fit enough and my lorry's back, we're going to chuffing well get out there and have some fun (and success too, I hope!)
So, maybe we can make this an inspirational thread... what's your motto going to be for this year, and why?

Well, my moto was said to me last year, it made me laugh so I will keep it for this year too!
This was in reference just before a dressage test, but you could put it into prospective of what you like ;)
'Sit up, Enjoy it and remember it's tight!'
I have to confess, I've never enjoyed riding a test so much - Iam truely surprised I didn't get beeped for laughing!!
I do intend to enjoy this year, whatever I am doing with either of my gg's!

Organisation is key - set some goals, and actually make a concerted organised effort to acheive them, not expect them just to happen.

This might even involve being organised enough to have lesson

'He who dares, wins'

Mainly because I love Only Fools and Horses so much and it makes me smile everytime I say it :D Also because I'm taking a lot of risks this year, I'm hoping they're going to pay off

ignore those who dont matter and enjoy it! :) oh and to slow down!

2010 was a bit of a stinker for me with losing my mare, everyone was always telling me how i should be doing this that and the next thing with her. Took a lot of the fun out of things and has left me feeling that everyone thought we were useless. So I am shunning others negativity and going to have a darn good time with the new boy :D

p.s the slow down bit is because new boy (rex) is quite a wee buzzy 4yo at the moment!

Im not going to plan as much and make decisions as they come. I think I have rushed things to much in the past due to bad planning etc and then been let down when things don't actually go to plan.

The first one that came to mind was "keep on, keepin' on", which appeals to my stubborn side.

However I quite like "I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul." (Invictus, William Ernest Henley), but maybe that's a bit highbrow for me. :o

"Dont take no for an answer!"

What with Rocky's dodgy XC... weve totally cracked the napping out hacking (which is what he'd do infront of fences) - had a try at it yesterday (for the first time in a good 4 or 5 months), but as soon as I told him to go forward, he did so this IS what its going to be like XC!

Also in other areas of my like it seems quite appropriate too

Hmmm probably something along the lines of.... "It's your life, live it the way you want." mainly because I always end up doubting myself when in fact I'm actually right or getting pulled into doing things I would rather not do and regretting it. ;) lol

In a horse-sense, my motto for this year is "Have faith and have fun" because I get so nervous about competing and end up missing out but if I do compete always have a great time and think why was I so scared? :o :D

Those that matter don't mind and those that mine don't matter! Or somthing along those lines, have had a few people slate my riding in the last year but have decided they don't matter to me so why should what they say matter to me! I'll just try and get on with it and ride everything to the best of my ability!

I love that poem...

For me: chin up, grit your teeth and smile. Or "Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end."
This year sucked. Massively on so many levels. But I'm still here, I'm happy and life is going well. So yes- this year will rock. And I will a supportive big sister too, as my riding career is pretty much over, lol!

Well as I said on fb I'm with you plus you only live once. Am fed up of just never reaching my potential so am going to give myself a kick and just get on with things as I strive for perfection which just leaves me disappointed every time!

This year will be different (have already sung on karaoke on nye which was another 'to do' on my list)

Mine's 'Don't' ;)

To be used in all situations when the fridge is beckoning, another glass of wine seems like a good idea, when I see something I want to buy and when I fancy stepping up a level just for the hell of it. Oh, and possibly when I feel like telling my boss exactly what I think of his *insert expletive of choice* job and wage :o :p

"stop flapping, just ride the bloody thing!" :D

I worry that things are not "right" or are going to go wrong and horse takes advantage, NOT ANYMORE :p

Mine is "stop worrying, enjoy what you have". I'm lucky to have a lovely, well trained, big moving horse who I should be proud of, and instead of bemoaning that he isn't going to win at small tour at the Premier Leagues, I should just do what he enjoys and have fun. :)
