Someone I know will let her horses run rings round her, it drives me mad!
mad.gif

You dont get anywhere in life with bad manners

my horse(s) walk all over me in a way...but they have perfect manners I don't do horses with no manners.....they will wait to go into stable until I tell them it's OK, stand still when asked, and wont touch haynets til I've told them they can etc, but if they want anything they get it.....my boy used to rub his head on me after work and in field to help clear flies etc....people used to tell me this is bad....but to be honest I couldnt care less....so long as I was happy with him to do it it was fine!!

Rara my saddle's very dark brown and bridle's black
blush.gif
Is that acceptable until I can buy a nice expensive one?
tongue.gif

Gina I never turn out in headcollars, if you can't catch a horse the horse has bad manners

There is a girl on my yard who think her horse is the next rolette :s the horse in question has no jumping technique what so ever (i mean literally throws himself over and lands in a heap on the other side) dishes so badly he looks lame and she seems to think she will be at hoys next year. The horse doesn't look like it enjoys it either - ears flat back ,flybucks etc but take it out hacking ears are forward, the dishing is better no bucking. The horse and rider are done up in every conceivable bit of sj kit going. so I guess mine is people over estimating themselves or their horses as it normally ends up in one or the other losing confidence and not enjoying themselves. ohhh it turnd into a rant sorry
smile.gif

people who have a disposable income and think its a good idea to buy a horse when they have had very limited hands on experience...

people who attach a leadrope to the bit after tacking up leave the horse tied up to the tie ring ... result one snapped bridle and one scared horse ....

People happily riding away with their horse's nose touching its chest. Not so much the whole behind the vertical issue, but, rather, the fact that those riders are blissfully unaware and think it's perfectly normal to pull, saw, pull, saw with their hands
frown.gif

Also when you go to the shows and see people with a fixed martingale, grackle, gag, spurs and a whip???!!!!
WTF???
confused.gif

The horse is one or the bloody other!
I hate seeing the young girls booting the poor ponies with spurs on, Ive bitten my tongue on many occasions

People who do not advertise their horses honestly, people who call non horse owners timewasters all the time just because they did not get on with their horse, adverts that say "NO TIMEWASTERS"
mad.gif
It's incredibly offputting! I went to view a cob and I was incredibly shocked by what I saw and when I told the owner I would not be taking him on as a share let alone trying him out (bad mannered horse!) - owner went on to rant about timewasters in such a way I felt guilty for not wanting the horse!
mad.gif

Bridles that have cheek pieces that buckle on the outside (as opposed to nice flush billet hooks) - yuk!
and
Shows that charge huge entry fees but have crappy, one tiered rosettes

Lol, mine can be bad to catch but its not bad manners! He is genuinely scared - time and patience is winning the day...... as is *gasp* leaving a non fieldsafe headcollar on as he will panic if you approach with a headcollar and the fieldsafe ones are cr*p imo. Although i'm not totaly evil, it is a kavalkade elasticated (and padded
blush.gif
) one.

My pet hate (in no way a refernce to the above btw!!!) is people sticking their oar in where it isn't wanted or needed. There always seem to be an abundance of 'experts' kicking about at stables that don't ride/compete etc yet feel the need to tell others what they are doing wrong
mad.gif

Rant over!

ok, i will be prepared to be shot down,, butttttt, mine is dogs loose on a yard.I saw a horse get bitten badly on the face,it had its head over the stable door and dog had it, it was awful

That reminds me - dogs cr#pping all over the yard/fields/schools and the owners cant be ar$ed to pick it up

( apologies for language but just remembered how angry that makes me!)

Snooty riders who look down at you like their s**t dont stink who dont thank you for opening gates, slowing down for them in your car etc, love meeting people on horses that you dont know for the first time and being able to chat away like old friends.

People criticising others when they probably have no knowledge of the horse, it's health, maintenance or anything else about it, in RL or on a forum, although admittedly on a forum there is room for misunderstanding.

Like the charming member who pm'd me the other day telling me how dangerous it was to let me stallion loose in a barn with mares...you don't know me, or my horses, how they are kept or how they react, do you? No. Butt out then.

Exactly.

I really have to laugh at the suggestion that one of my horses is "bad mannered", just because she can *sometimes* (generally twice a year, when she is extra hormonal
smirk.gif
) might be difficult to catch.

Anyone: my vet/farrier/dentist/physio, who has met and dealt with her would tell you that my older mare is, not just well mannered, but exceptional, and they have *all* also asked me WTF I haven't bred from her, as she has all the characteristics suitable! (If I'd had the funds when she was young enough, I would have
smile.gif
)

The fact is, my lovely old mare spent the best part of 7 years of her life stuck in a stable,
frown.gif
v v rarely turned out, and never in company. That has upset and influenced her, and how she is now. She doesn't like strangers (which is great as far as I'm concerned - no one would ever steal her
tongue.gif
) but is lovely with us (me/my mother/farrier) who she deals with regularly, and she is quite happy to be left in the field alone, when I used to ride Be out and leave her behind. I know which I would rather pick over a horse that is quirky about being caught, and a horse that is too neurotic to be left alone
wink.gif
That said, on the odd occasion she doesn't want to be caught, I only have to catch her field mate, and leave her ten mins, and she usually agrees.

To suggest that she, or any horse that is reluctant about being caught does it out of "bad manners" is just silly IMO!
smile.gif

People who leave their horses tied up unattended with the headcollar hanging round its neck, I have argued over this but they still do it.

Also, people who have rich parents that think they can fast track their way to success, ie "oooh look at my medium trot, aren't I talented". Er no, the horse is struggling to work by itself while you bounce around like a numpty love.

Ive started.....

Little kids on their ponies at shows having a tantrum and smacking the horse to kingdom come. When my kids ride a horse they will get a crop when they can respect when and how to use it. A whip is not your personal venting tool young man/lady!! The part that kills me is the parents just standing watching and not saying 'cut that out and control yourself!"
mad.gif

Rant over
wink.gif

Riders who are out hacking without hi viz and are rude.
Also people who use cheltenham gags with one rein - really annoys me

eta oh an people my age who can't ride, are bought expensive eventers (think 3*)by mummy and daddy and then can't get around a BE100 course because they don't know how to ride

Pushy parents with overhorsed nervous novice teenagers!

Just let me have a go with that horse!!! But of course they won't let any old riding school scum ride their precious horse, despite the fact their precious child can't cope with it - argh!

OOh now you've asked!
Dogs/Children on yards....unless under control/tied up of course...

People who borrow your stuff without asking and don't put it back properly/break it and don't replace it or own up

Ill-shod horses. If you can't afford a farrier before your horse's shoes practically fall off then don't have one!

Back handed comments/compliments. Just say what you mean in the open!

Tying up when not to thinned baler twine arrrggggh! Accident waiting to happen.

People who laugh at my cob with his knee boots on and hi viz for hacking out. My horse - my choice! So nowt to do with anyone but me!

Basically to sum up - bad manners TBH

There. Feel better now..aaaaaah

Now that is my kind of yard, all dogs to be kept under control at all times and children to be kept tied up!!!
