I think there is another type. Bright, interested and willing. My mare is not aloof or nervous, but I wouldn't say she has a big personality. She is interested in what is going on and will always pop her head over the door if people are around and loves to be stroked, but I wouldn't say it is affection. I am with cortez in that horses people describe as "affectionate" are often what I consider a bit rude. I don't really mind if a horse wants to be near me or not as long as it is polite about it.
Ridden wise I like a horse that picks up on things quickly and is willing to try

I like mine to have "character". I like hot, sharp horses that are quick-thinking and bold. Bright eyed.

Current horse is basically perfect, I wish I could clone him. Raring to go under saddle, big dog in hand.

Some years ago I took my new horse out hunting for the first time, and a friend of mine took one look at him and burst out laughing. Eventually she calmed down enough to tell me that if I had asked her to design a horse specifically for me, that is what she would have come up with. I lost him a couple of years ago, and am still looking for his replica.

I chose "Other" I like a friendly, laid back horse that enjoys its food and life in general and is able to withstand a bit of spoiling without turning into a monster. Ridden wise, I am not that experienced or skilled, I've ridden kick alongs and more forward going, I guess more forward going, but not forward going into the next county at the speed of light. Happily, both my own ridden horses have ticked most boxes
