What's your worming programme?

I find this such a confusing subject and so tend to rely heavily on worm counts as an indication of what to treat.

Please could you let me know which worming programmes you are on.

I do worm counts on my older horse (who always come up with a "no worms seen") and use a wormer for tapeworm spring and autumn as tapeworm doesn't show up in worm counts. I regularly worm my 2 year old as I know she's more prone to worms but when she gets older I'll use worm counts on her (not sure when this should be, has anyone any advice?)

My yearling is on the Equest/ Equest Pramox plan which is only 4 times a year - one each season, and is the least confusing programme for me and him!

We too are on Equest and Equest Pramox. Very easy

the only worming program of any use these days is Equest and Equest Pramox alternately every 13wks. You dont need to change brands every year as most of the others have resistance to them anyway. If you want to be good to the environment and your horse then you can worm count and minimise worming even further.
