Enjoy

Im in Norfolk but my favourite events are:
Poplar Park: 1 of my locals, good ground, I know it like the back of my hand and Tink won this year
wink.gif

Belton: My 1st novice and really has the feeling of the big time, a lovely big kick on track (looked enormous for my 1st novice on a 14.3 6yo pony)
Isleham: Similar to Poplar, 1st one of the season so good to catch up with mates, also Tink won in 2008 (seeing a pattern
wink.gif
)
Brigstock: lovely big track but did learn the hard way to not take a green horse for its level.

Oh dear, there are too many! (I live on S Wales/Herefordshire border).

New favourite is definitely Barbury
cool.gif
, lovely atmosphere and great fun course. Felt so posh for a normal Novice even if the dressage was a million miles from anywhere.

Or Withington which is such an excellent way to start the season for me, again seems really smart and fab bold xc.

But I also love Aldon, I know everyone else says it has no atmosphere for a 3 day, but it's the only place I've ever stabled away and I have always enjoyed it, even when things go wrong...

i'm in East Anglia now, but was in Staffs and in Northants before that.
Umm, Weston Park would be right up there, always had a fab fun clear there (well, big fat E once but only cos i missed 1/2 a fence out, numpty rider, horse thought she'd gone clear!) the courses are always perfectly pitched imho.

I've never done BE, but from watching my sister, I really like Little Downham, and Stratford Hills. Burnham Market and Blackwater are fairly regular haunts for us so I don't think we find them very impressive any more- especially as I've been to camp in both places so never feel good hving gone round- I have, in all honesty, practidsed there...

My horse loves Poplar and I think it's a lovely BE90- Cheeky went round easily and he struggles with anything over 2'9.

I'm in Cumbria - the centre of the Eventing world . . . . . . . . not
smirk.gif

My favourite I compete at is without a doubt Hutton in the Forest it is well run and the courses was really well dressed and presented. I also really liked the atmosphere at Beckwithshaw plus the course was fantastic. Cumwhinton is also up there on my list along with Hexham but I found the XC courses at Richmond and Skipton a bit dull.

To go and watch my favourites are Blair and Barbury - personally Burghley was a bit too busy with too many spectators for me, haven't yet ventured to Badminton yet although that's the plan for next year
grin.gif
I'm glad they changed the date because now it doesn't clash with anything
smile.gif

Having said this I only compete at BE90 and I'm in my second season but I'm hoping to get to more events next year.

Oxfordshire.
Gosh, have a list of favourite events...

Hambledon (Oxon), its local and the course is always nicely presented and always well attended by spectators. Organisers really helpful too.

Mattingley (Hampshire) just one of those courses where you feel like youre doing say a mini Badminton. Always beautifully presented even at Intro level. Long course too.

Syde Park (Glos) no longer run, but just loved the course, big bold and galloping.

Salperton (Glos) again a bit like the above, real lovely estate, galloping undulating course and quite atmospheric.

Great Tew (Oxon) super run, lovely xc course, and atmospheric show jumping. Stewards all friendly and helpful plus great prizes.

What she said^^^.

I love Floors Castle-dresage infront of the castle is a big high. Also love Hexham and Hutton.

I'm in south Herefordshire.

My favourite event is Monmouth
smile.gif
Lovely galloping track, I had a fantastic time around the PN course on my last horse, never had so much fun in my whole life
laugh.gif

When I evented a few years ago in Cheshire I loved Bradwall, big bold and galloping and Tetton for its fab hedges. Both really friendly events.
smile.gif
Hope to start again next year but in midlands now.

Im hereford/wales border.

More than likey Salperton (my only double clear at novice! and a course that very much suits song!)

Barbury because of the atmosphere, I also loved knaptoft when i did it a few years ago and i have to say pontispool and longleat.

Daunsey (but without the mud)- big proper xc course!
Withington is great as well. And I always enjoy Stockland Lovell-as seemed to get placed there more often than the others!

Yes, me too - I like Spring Hill for the same reason - every time I go there I get a better result
grin.gif
Hope they run next year

I'm in Hertfordshire.

My favourite is easy: Mattingley!
Like BBs said it's always so well presented and lots of trade stands etc so you feel like you've 'arrived'

Lovely course, lots to do but not ridiculously hard, just enough to be a challenge and rides so well. Even the BE80 which I did this year was a lovely long course.

I like Hambleden too but unfortunately have never actually been round (yet) for one reason and another

I totally forgot about this post
smile.gif
(been busy watching the footie!)

Some good ones in here - BBs agree with Mattingley though I had the worst luck there this year leaving the start box in the lead and retiring on course! Damn!

Im on Wirral/Cheshire border.
Favorites have to be:
Tetton Hall: Only done it once but loved it, fab old fashion course and it was just unfortunate that I wasnt able to go again.
Arley Hall: There was a great atmosphere this year, the country fair adds a sense of occasion.
Somerford: Because its a great event venue, flat dressage and showjumping and extremely well presented (shoule be good this weekend!)
Kelsall Hill: Because its my local one, xc always changing and with the ground being hilly it makes it interesting (not so much for the dressage!)

Lincs, but v close to A1 so lucky in have LOTS of events in easy reach.

But :

I loved loved loved Chatsworth - such an atmosphere, and for a novice the XC was something else [to have people applaud you when you go clear through the water is like

Really like Burnham Market - course you can really ride, rather than worry about the next funny strided dog leg of skinnes.

I like Lincoln for start of season - water isn't anything impressive, but it's SJ is in the main arena at the showground which gives a nice feel.

Solihull is also nice, regularly there!!

Yeah I remember the first year I went, it was bottomless rained all day.
Came home with 15 time pens, the girl i went with wouldnt hang around for prize giving so missed my rosette
frown.gif
as no one else got round.
2nd year I went, mare took exception to the damn mushrooms and borked out at the last minute leaving me on the floor
smirk.gif
bloody horse
mad.gif

Then took Winston round, followed Tigers Eye and William in the PN.
Next time, took Snoopy around who napped going down to the water had a rear then went on his merry bloody way, missing a placing by 1 time penalty arghhhh Warmbloods
smirk.gif

I'm Gloucestershire but previously London.

Highclere, had a really special feel for a PN, and best ride I've had yet XC.
Ascott under Wychwood, lovely courses and they really make an effort.
Mattingley, because the XC is great and it always delivers.
I quite like Borde Hill too.
Salperton, never competed, just walked, but would love to.
I also have to say West Wilts as it is the only place I ever get placed, although sadly not this weekend!

Nobody so far [i belive] has said tweseldown
frown.gif

i, quite honestly, love tweseldown.
Your alway guaranteed pretty good going, and they always seem to put out new jumps each time, and can make it very testing when they want to! Plus its a brilliant first time one, educational for both horse and rider.

I also really like ascott-under-wychwood. the course is really nice and its a lovley event, set in a wonderful place in the country!
smile.gif

On my trip to devon..i really liked nutwell course...the people down there are so friendly and nice, and by having the showjumping right next to the tradestands - even in the pouring rain - i felt like there was an atmosphere! i defintley want to go back there next year
wink.gif
even if it is a 7 hour drive...silly stonehenge... :P

loved withington,
longleat was good too.
chatsworth was also good, if a little wet
wink.gif

also liked llanymynech and salperton. would love to do Int at salperton, rather than PN i did in 08!!

Carlton - the people there are a complete delight, really friendly, the course is inviting and has actual hills (wahey). Also like Burnham Market, shame the drive is so horrendous - feels like you're at the end of the world!

Aldon (the first event I was a spectator at. Sunny spring day, inspired me to take part.)
Blemheim, (even though I fell off there)
Tidworth (my first win!)
Gatcombe (lovely big bold courses)
Dauntsey (nice hedges and interesting water jumps!)

I'm on the Glos/herefordshire border...

my fav is def Hambledon! not for any practical reason (dont be silly!) but because all my horses have done their first ints there and all breezed round. Its interesting, varied, has a super sj arena and course and very pretty bluebells!

Otherwise, I like little Gatcombe (though I may not after this week!), as the courses are super and theres lots of atmosphere (plus it so close!) and houghton hall - mainly because its beautiful (a definite theme emerging there!!)
Amazed so many have said salperton, whenever i've been the sj was huge, the xc courses v stiff and the ground awful.....must have been unlucky! Also love Wilton - again, a lovely setting and an unusual course (Watch out for the drop!!!)

Based in Cornwall my favorites are

Little Gatcombe - Bold galloping course
Highclere
Charlton Park (when it was still going)

All the above probably quite similiar types but great courses.
