What's youre favourite BE event...and why?

North Yorks:

I really love Belton and Chatsworth best, they have a special feel all of their own (probably to do with both having a CIC3* and neither running below Nov). You really feel like you've had to earn the right to be there.

Up north Floors and Hexham are really nice and a special mention goes to Burgie.

I love Highclere, I think thats my favourite.
I also really like Wilton because it's our local and there's always lots of people I know and who are supporting us.

I'm in Lancashire and it must be the worst county in the country for lack of any BE events

However, I always try and get to Hutton In The Forest and loved Arley Hall and Tetton - especially Tetton, the hedges are fab!

I live in Bedfordshire and this was our 1st year of BE, ok so we only competed at 90 but here goes.

Carlton - friendliest event of the year, nice touches like giving you a packet of polos when you declared, lovely XC course with proper hills - Shame SJ warm up was tiny and unlevel. Gave prize money - we got £30 for 4th in an intro!!!!

mine are the following (in no particular order!!)
Mattingley
Highclere
Great Tew
Hambleden
The first 2 are local to me so i am very lucky

i would also likew to say Tweseldown as my horse loves the XC there but at the same time he has never SJ there at all well so not too sure if i could say its a fave - which is a shame as its another local event!!!

My favourite events are now no longer

They were Sansaw Park, Savernake Forest and Lulworth Castle. It was just awesome competing there.

I havent done much since those events were on, so cant really comment on what would be my faves out of all the events now. I just find the XC far too twisty on everything Ive been, too much doubling back etc..

Highclere is lovely, but the ground can be shocking, some horses can hardly move in it and others are fine.

Belton is my absolute fave, but then it's only just down the road (I'm in Lincs), it's a lovely setting and for me epitomises what eventing is all about. It has a fantastic atmosphere, is very competitive, good tracks and great for spectating when you have all the Badminton-bound horses running there. I've had some pleasing results and did my first ever Advanced there

, so fond memories too.

A close second would be Burnham Market: always well run with a friendly but professional attitude to competitors and educational courses for horses at all levels.

My faves are....Im South east

Eridge - Lovely event and love the hilly course, ground can be hard though which is a downside.
Brightling - Went for the first time last year and loved it, nice galloping course
Mattingley - Very well presented course and nice warm ups for each phase
Nurstead - My closest event so local at an hour ish, lovely XC course, and nice flat dress and SJ warm ups

Lots of good ones in there already... I'm South Wales borders, and I'd add: Purston Manor - lovely galloping tracks and super-friendly organising team; Aston-le-Walls because nothing is too much trouble and it works; I used to love Bicton, had some fab rides round all the tracks there; Brockenhurst, ditto.

Scone, Floors and Brechin as i am based near Glasgow.

Brechin is a fun twisty course with great amature atmosphere
Scone has great courses and quite dressage
Floors is an alround fab event with big bold XC with some decent techical fences - it has it all.

xkx

I'm in Herts

Loved loved loved Barbury - such a beautifully designed course, loads to think about on the XC and great atmosphere

Aston-Le-Walls- always know you will get good educational courses and I find all the distances are pretty perfect in the combinations. Bit like a box of chocolates - pot luck where the sj & dr will ever be but I like to be kept on my toes!!

Brigstock is fab for a lovely galloping track

Great Tew for a guaranteed lovely first time course

I am south Glos

My favourites are Longleat great atmosphere and fantastic setting, esp for the PN and Nov compared to other local events. Hartpury, great facilites had a fantastic time there (until Frankie went lame!)
and Dauntsey, felt like a great achievement to comple the novice XC clear

North Yorkshire

Im a big fan of the Scottish Events
I always enjoy going over to Ayr but have a soft spot for Floors - where i did my 1st Novice

And also Scone seems i've never come away from the event without a prize

you have to love an event like that

Allerton and Witton have always been good events too

We don't have a huge amount of BE events up my way (NE Scotland) but I have to say my 2 favourites happen to be my locals!

Aswanley - It's only a 25 min drive (my closest venue!) The atmosphere is always really good all the organisers etc. are very jolly. I love the course, challenging enough without being truly terrifying (although this year they'd taken out some fences and I thought it was a little too easy compared to previous years!). The mound offers a really good view point for specators who can watch the brand new water complex and other fences down the valley, plus can see the SJ ring as well. We were 3rd and got a fab trophy for best local there this year which also helps :P

Burgie - Because its an event I used to go to as a kid to watch and see the professionals, I used to think the fences were MASSIVE and am so proud that this year I did the CIC* which included "the" trakhener Ive feared since I was about 8! I think it has been struggling a bit over the years recently but people like Zara Philips help keep the spectators coming. Its a super course and the surroundings are nice especially the dressage arena in front of the mansion house.
