I need a new tyre & inner tube for my wheelbarrow, do they need to be sealed like a car tyre or can you fit them yourself? Thanks
 
I have occasionally taken a wheel barrow wheel along to my tyre repairers and they repaired/replaced as necessary, no problem. But they have to use tyre levers to get the tyre off as they can't use their machines. Hope that helps! They are like small car tyres.

Edited to say, you could probably do it yourself but I never have! Too lazy!
 
I took mine to local tyre place, fully expecting them to have to get something in for me - they had them in stock. I was well impressed.
 
Ditto the tyre place. I took mine in a while ago, left it with them and returned a bit later to an as-new wheel and a £5 bill. Absolute bargain!!
 
Just had ours replaced. Cost £12 from local tyre company. To have a new tyre and inner tube was £24. Still cheaper than a new barrow.
 
With the solid wheels are they easy to push as at the entrance to my stable barn there's like a raised concrete bit to push barrow over & I've got a larger barrier. Current normal tyre just bounces over it

I much prefer barrows with solid tyres, SO much easier to push. For any big bumps and barriers though, I just turn round and go backwards for a couple of steps.
 
It's not difficult to replace an innertube &/or tyre on a wheelbarrow & it's cheap enough to do, see below links for wheels/tyres/innertubes.

After I'd changed mine I removed ther valve & squeezed some tyre sealant into it which automatically seals any punctures you may get from thorns etc then replaced the valve & inflated the tyre. I've not had any loss of air or puncture since.

The bottle of sealant will do loads of barrow tyres, the whole yard......& more.
 
I have the B&Q orange barrow and after 6 years of trusty service and a couple of recent punctures, the tyre recently split so I ambled along to B&Q to buy a new wheel and discovered that they sell solid ones for £18. No more punctures! :)
 
Solid tyres, had mine for years and just repainted my trusty old barrow so we are good for a few more years yet. I got sick of slow punctures and leaky valves.

You can pick them up on ebay
maybe robinsosn ( depending on wheel barrow )
your local tyre merchant can order and fit the tyre to your existing wheel .

Solid tyres aren't ideal and if you ask for a solid you will get crumb rubber or pvc.

What you need is a microcellular wheel which is like a honeycomb material similar to foam. :D

I used to work for a company who produced them so trust me :)
