I am moving off my yard very soon and renting a field for my three ponies and in the process of getting myself set up and would appreciate any recommendations / tips on the following

Wheelbarrow for poo picking - I like the two wheeled versions but they they are just so expensive unless anyone can recommend a cheap one? I also noticed that B & Q do a bright orange plastic one - anyone used one of these, thought they might be a bit lighter than bog standard ones but are they tough enough?

Electric fencing energiser and leisure battery - I had a Rutland for a while (which got nicked

) and that was okay or are other makes better?

Need to buy some rails for pony's rugs etc to be fixed into a shed - are the Requisite ones out of the Robinson catalogue okay? They haven't got to be mega strong - rugs are only 5ft 9".

There are probably other things that I haven't thought of yet..

Many thanks folks

cheap way of rails for rugs is go to your local merchant and get some 8ft fence stakes (round ones)get someone to cut the point end of and drill big holes through each end. Tie rope (or washing line) through and hang up - voila cheap and great for hanging rugs on, much cheaper than these proper rug rails, and they hold a rug stretched out so it all dries

people on our yard use plastic drainpipes as rug hangers. they drill holes through the ends and thread rope through, so allowing them to be hung from a wall, and then the rugs can hung on top

whellbarrow wise, i think i got mine from sainsburys homebase, just a bog standard one wheel garden one, which does the job well

Great ideas for my rug rails - work for a construction company so I'm sure we've got some odds and sods hanging about

Orange wheelbarrow - I think it was the colour that caught my eye too

We use the two wheeled ones on the yard (lovely Trailerbarrow ones) but thinking about it we don't use them for poo picking so yes they would be too heavy.

So orange is the way to go

don't bother with the blue wheelbarrows with 2 wheels close together, they wobble worse than a single-wheeled one, very annoying and unstable.
i have a huge wide french 2-wheeled one, but full of muck i can hardly shift it. you'd be better with a normal plastic one i think!
can't recommend Fieldguard elec fencing highly enough. having used the cheaper stuff before, i'd never go back to it now. all brilliantly designed and worth the extra money imho.

I Have used one of the orange wheelbarrows from B & Q for four years now. It is kept outside and used each day. Never had a problem and never had a puncture and never had to blow tyre up. Fantasticly light weight and easy to manouvre.

I would not advise 2 wheel barrows for poo picking especially in the winter . They are a nightmare to get through the mud.

I recommend these barrows they are brilliant they are also really easy to push up muckhill unlike some who dig in when your pushing very light type in

haemmerlin wheel barrow to ebay loads colours and prices show up

these are better than the narrow one below tho same company here as you tend to catch your feet on the lower parts

I got the cheapest wheelbarrow from b&q and never had a problem with it. It's dead light and easy to manouver. So I'd say go for it. Everything I got regarding mucking out equipment was all the cheapest range in either wilkinsons and b&q and two years later it's all still going fine with plenty of life left in it yet.

i have the robinsons rug rails and they are fine. i use the upright green carts from b&q - find them easier than a wheelbarrow. got electric fencing from robinsons - get the rope rather than tape. good luck!

Orange bandq wheel barrow is amazing. I have 2. One stays at yard for mucking out. The other lives in the field. Fenced pff from the horses. It might be worth swapping the tyre though. They do a green one that is solid rubber and so puncture proof. This wheel comes much better over rutty ground when barrow is full of poo!
