Wheezing??

Hello,
I have two gorgeous Labradors named Saffron and Tara, they have never had any problems but recently Saffron has been making strange wheezing noises that cause his sides to heave. He does this often but somehow never when he runs. I thought it may be Kennel Cough but he is up to date with vaccinations and Tara has not caught it. I wanted any advice you may have before I involve a vet.

This could be caused by dozens of different things so I would definitely go to the vets. Dogs still often contract kennel cough regardless of vacc. It is known to be an unreliable vaccine due to there being so many strains of kc. Also one dog in a household could have symptoms and another be perfectly fine.

That said, my spaniels mystery wheezing/retching turned out to be chronic bronchitis. He now has an asthma inhaler

Good idea to phone actually as they dont like you to bring them into the practice if its poss kc incase you spread it to all the dogs in waiting room lol! Good Luck
