when are you all clipping?

I'm clipping on Friday, but that's only because i have a big show in a couple of weeks. I normally wait until about November time so i can get away with just one clip a year.

I clip once a year, and aim to do it as late into Oct as possible with my connie. Shes growing her winter coat nicely at the moment so ill hold off as long as possible, but last year it was about halloween / bonfire night when we got it done :)

im hoping mid october ish but im doubtful :o probably start of october but i dont care how many times i clip as he is good and i have my own clippers :)

As late as possible really . . . while Kal is shedding his summer coat like mad (particularly over his back and on his bottom), I don't see much in the way of winter coat. He doesn't grow much of a coat in the winter anyway and is well-rugged (b/c he feels the cold). Last year we didn't clip until November and only needed to do the one . . . I'm hoping we can do the same again this year.

Probably in 2/3 weeks for a bib/half neck/girth area (Irish chaser) clip on my hairy traditional cob. He has a very thick, coarse coat and I noticed last night he's looking quite hairy and if he's not sweating now, he soon will be! He usually needs the first clip halfway through cubbing. I then do a full clip (half head, legs left on) the week before opening meet as he is a very hot horse so needs it all off. If I do it the week before, any lines in the coat have grown out ;) I usually do another the week before the boxing day meet and that's the last one. Finer types may only need one a year but when you have such a hairy beast who sweats through excitment as meets, needs must :D
