Ours have been out in the day and in at night all winter, we are planning on them stopping out in the next two to three weeks depending on how dry the field is and what the weather is like!!

What about you?

Mine has been out for the last two nights - partly because the grass is coming through, partly because the slop is drying up, but mostly because he's told me he's happy by not being at the gate at 4pm.

If it gets wet again, he'll be by the gate so I'll know what he's asking! He only lives out for a couple of months during the worst weather and then he loves his box and settles in with a happy sigh. But when he's ready to be out...

madly - my mare, who normally lives out 24/7 has just started coming in:rolleyes:- combination of v poor grazing & a very long winter has left her looking v poor so she has gone back to being a stable princess with no sign of any grass coming through - this sad [ & expensive] state of affairs may go on for some time:(

they already are ;-) They have been since the snow. My pure tb and tb cross. Its not been to wet or windy, they are rugged well to keep them toasty and are given adlib hay/haylage to help keep them warm. They are better for it. And particularly on a day like this. (glorious sunshine here!) i love seeing them out. Allthough they arn't actually out on the fields yet, they are in winter sand/gravel turnout paddocks.

My fully clipped exmoor has lived out all winter with a toasty rug, she's cane in overnight when we had snow though. My 32 yr old and my TB - who has no winter fluff have been living out (with rugs) the past week and they are so much happier for it. Their not in the main field yet, just in a paddock with haylage until we get some grass coming through.

Ours are out all day, come in at night. Over June/July or whichever decides to be the hottest times, we swap round and they go out overnight; never all the time.

Normally sometime in March, but its been so mild they have been out on dry nites for a couple of weeks.

They will come in again at night if its wet an miserable though

I was hoping to start leaving my two out this month, but we've had some pretty hard frosts the last few nights. All the fields have been white when we've woken up so I may leave it a little longer. I don't like turning out on frosty grass after my shettie became a little footy after being turned out after the last frost. Rather be safe than sorry! :)

Ours are all out 24/7 now, and two are fully clipped :) They have been for 2/3 weeks on and off, and for the last 2 weeks have been out 24/7 if that makes sense.

Mine are now out 24/7 and have been for the past 5 days or so now, rugged still granted! It's cold but it's dry so there out! fields are also drying out nicely too now! If they become too muddy again we may have to bring back in, but here's hoping we go into proper spring from here on!

Ours are out 24/7 all year round, except two ponies who come into the yard for the summer to stop them getting laminitis, but i am hopeing to muzzle them so they can stay out at least most of the time.
