Hi guys and gals. I had my hip replacement last Tuesday and im very keen not to damage it. I really miss my pony. When could you safely muck out and pool pick etc again? Three months? Six months? I know riding is months away. Well not at all if my surgeon has his way. Ps don' t panic he has plenty of people looking after him xx

My OH was caught working (moving pianos etc) by his surgeon 4 days after his first hip.. Depends on the individual I guess.. He's never been one to sit around at all..

I rode 5 weeks and three days after my replacement.
IF you are looking after one well behaved horse I suppose I could have done that at around six weeks too.
You will find certain tasks difficult and these will take longer .
I was feeding and putting water into stables ( from buckets by the door ) before that.
It seems very personal I was walking three miles a day at ten days my friend who is a super climber skiing type found walking very much harder I found sitting very difficult indeed for quite a while where my friend could sit for Long periods almost at once.
My brother who had his 3 months ago went abroad for work last week and to get onto the plane using the wheelchair lift I went to the US alone 8 weeks after ( hand baggage only ) and managed it all fine
Get a folding walking stick as mine was invaluable when I got going it gave me confidence to know it was in my bag.
PM me if you like we can exchange stories.
