As the title says really. I'm trying to decide if we would make complete eejits of ourselves if we try and do anything at an affiliated level. We've done RC ODE, Dressage and jumping and she usually goes clear and usually gets placed though not always top three.

We've still got a lot to learn I know but, did you wait until you were consistently winning before you took the plunge?

It's only June now and I'm already fed up with inconsistent judging, bonkers courses and mad ODE's where a novice course includes jumps I know you wouldn't get BE Novice.

And where to affiliate first? I'd like to do a few intros/PN, but would happily take her as far as she is able to in any sphere, at the moment she's a real allrounder with dressage leanings . She's also a low mileage 8 and I've had her since weaning (which is why I know!).

Or, should I stay another year in RC and get some consistently higher placings....

I have just affliated my mare BD, I was fed up with inconsistant judging and wacky comments on my sheets. We spent last year doing prelim and novice and always above 60%.

We affliated my sisters horse the 2nd year we had her, she spent the first year doing PC and did all the novice teams incl Mattinglys Intro course. The horse and rider were finding it easy so we affliated.

If you are more into the eventing then I would affliate BE, but it depends which one you would rather do.

Day tickets!!!! Have a go at all three disciplines, see which one you feel most at home with & go from there! Its what I did, Im now a member of BD, I hated BSJA & whilst I loved BE, I dont think my horse is up to it! Best competing desicion I ever made, was to have a go at all 3!

For BE, you need to be confidently jumping around a course of 3' SJ and XC, and be getting consistantly f#good dressage scores to make it worth your while. Go on a ady ticket, will help you decide and give t#you your first taste without forking out affiliation costs!

Of course! Day tickets! I knew you could do all three on a ticket but for some reason... hadn't occurred!

Good idea! thanks!

There is a yard near me runs BD nearly every week.. will have a go there first perhaps
