When do i need to tell insurance

I don't know if anyone was following but over the last couple of days I've had a sunday call out from the vet, two further visits, three lots of sedative, three lots of muscle relaxant, and had him tubed twice. (for choke)

Fingers crossed he is out of the woods now and that should be it but I was wondering should i ring the insurance company straight away and let them know. It's only today that he's got any better.

Expecting a hefty bill following all of that

I would have thought what's been done would only just be over the excess; is it worth having an exclusion stuck on it next year for the sake of being able to claim back something like £50?

They seem to check vet record now - asking vet if horse has ever suffered whatever befoer- and exclude for a condition that a horse has hade before even if you have NOT claimed on it.

Too late, I've had to tell them now anyway. Do you think that will really come to more than £500

I wouldn't have thought so but you can never tell until you get the bill.

I'm confused now; surely if the bill doesn't go over the excess, the company won't pay it anyway, you will have to find the first £500 or whatever your excess is and then they will pay anything over the excess (which might be only a few pounds in the end!) or have I misunderstood completely?

I thought I was on a £125 excess. This will come to more than £125.
I phoned to check and start the claim process only to find I have a £500 excess

SO no, I won't be able to claim.

I just hope it's not horrendously expensive. I hope it's less than £250-300 but I might be being very optimistic
