Sorry, me again,

was just wondering when you move up to the next grade in what ever you do?

Do you wait until you are really doing well at the level your at and then move up or do you compete at the level you think your horse is most suited to?

xx

Interesting question......

I think I just go for it, if i fall on my face i know i'm not ready! I think a lot of people stay at a lower level, because they are worried they are not good enough to move up, but unless you do move up a level, you don;t really start to progress.

Mostly my instructor encourages me and sets me goals....medium by Xmas is the next one!

I'm terrified of moving up, have done one easy novice event, (done about 10/11 pre novices and horse has done novice before!) , but am moving up on tuesday and then after that. I am moving up as I am no longer nervous before the xc or sj and while our dressage leaves a lot to be desired, I only have so long to move up!

I would say you ride at home a level above the one you compete. When work at home is satisfactory and lower levels competitions' results are good then you move up. You start competing at the level you were working at home and move up home work level higher.
