the 2 year olds at my employers still have lots of long hairs and look really scabby whereas he 3 year olds are all shiny and short haired. Is this just an age thing?
My yearling was rugged all winter and just has a tiny patch of hair along her spine that needs to fall out. Think it just depends on horse / how they're kept
we have a gelding rising 2 at our yard and he is exactly the same. Poor thing looks like he has a bad case of mange lol. I guess it may be age related but he has lived out for the last couple of months rugless. He is a newforest and his coat is still quite fluffy in a baby sort of way.
My youngster turned 2 just two days ago. She has all of her summer coat apart from a tiny bit near her withers. She wintered out 24/7 with a rug at night but hasn't worn one since about February.
My two year old (not 2 yrs until july 13) has lived out all winter and only had a rain sheet on. He hasnt had any fancy food just Equus herbs Winter Glow Summer Shine as a supplement and good hay. He's showing at Devon County in 3 weeks time and condition wise he's top notch. Only has the teeniest wee bit of coat on which with a good bath would come out!
My just turned 2 year old is still well and truly hanging on to his baby hair
He's been unrugged since mid Feb/end Feb (can't remember but it's been a while) Very, very fluffy belly and lots of long whispy hairs on his back lugs round his bum
