I'm hoping for the start of April but all depends on how dry the paddock is. D has to move into her summer paddock as soon as the grass starts coming through because its really small and stops her looking like an elephant
Usually end of May...depends on how wet it's been as YM doesn't like moving across if its wet through as the horses hoon about and chew the ground up, last couple of years theres been no choice though!!!
The horses on our livery yard have moved today, for a few months, then will rotate into the back fields again, so all fields get a rest, and can be sprayed etc.
I think it'll be May for me, too. I need to put some lime down on the summer paddocks to get rid of the moss and buttercups, so hopefull it'll be dry enough to do that next month.
Can't wait to get harrowing the winter paddocks, they're absolutely trashed!
I moved mine at the weekend cos once the snow had melted the field was flooded....... They will move back again once the winter field has dried up a bit. I'm lucky though cos I don't have a YO dictating where they need to go.
sorry to hijack the thread but we had a problem with buttercups last year. can you tell me how the lime works thanks.
We use summer paddocks after we have harrowed and rolled in April.
We have two summer paddocks so change from one to another every 6wks.
Back in winter paddock in November.
