My horses fly rug is looking a bit... meeeh and could do with a new one but unsure if there is any point. Will it be ending soon?

Flies can hang around well into October depending on the weather, but if you need a new rug I would get it now - most places are selling them off up to half price, if you'll need one next year anyway I would get one now.

That's strange. I still see a lot of them when the days are boiling.

There are still common house flies about but I have not seen any horse flies round here for ages and they were really bad this year, I know because I got bitten quite a few times and they drive the horses mad when they are out, where are you from?

Swish rugs have a sale on. I just bought a fly turnout ( fly rug with waterproof back section ) as thought good for this time of year as my boy can get quite cold when very wet and out overnight esp if cool wind too so keeps flies off but also an ultralight rainsheet. They have normal ones too.

I used to keep my boys on until it got frosty or he would still itch! I'm sure he spent more of the year in the bug rug than without! (He did have terrible sweetitch though!)

Ive been wondering the same thing! The horse I just bought came with a fly sheet but its a bit broken. Ive decided to leave it for now. The horse flies and biting ones seem to have vanished completely. I'm going to wait til the next Premier Equine sale!
