When does it get easier ?- Loosing a horse

I held my friend's boy a week last Friday. He was old and retired but had to be put to sleep very unexpectedly with colic. She didn't feel she could do it and was very upset which she felt would make it worse for him so I held him. He was my horse's best friend so he knew me well as they always came as a pair when I called my boy. I'm not normally there in the morning but had just popped up before work to muck out as I needed to be quick in the evening and it couldn't have been better timing (other than me arriving at work an hour and a half late plastered in mud!)

I just talked to him throughout and told him how much we all loved him, especially his mum. It was very peaceful and even though it was very sad, I feel very privileged that I got to be with him. He even had a rainbow appear just before and disappear a few minutes later. I'm sure your friend knew and loved Tessy too so Tessy would have felt very comfortable and comforted with her and if the vet was anything like the one we had she was in expert and very caring hands.

I'm so sorry you're going through this but it will get better, I promise.
