When feeding oil - is vitamin E necessary??

I have seen a few posts that say when feeding veg oil it's necessary to feed extra vitamin E? Is this the case? Would a balancer (specifcally stud balancer) in combination with veg oil provide enough vitamin E?
 
i am also interested - i feed full fat soya flakes - high in oil - i too wonder if i should feed vit e. i feed 600gm of flakes and 200 gm of micronised linseed as well.

Plenty of veg oils out there already have added vit E such as Flora oil or Lidl's which is much cheaper.:)
 
Thanks for responses so far, but I'm still not sure either way!

Am feeding co-op veg oil at present but no idea if it has added vit e. Will a stud balancer provide enough vit e to make up for any lack?

Kazhar - what does IU stand for?

Am already feeding alpha a oil, but in this weather I want to get a bit more cost effective cals into him so veg oil is the best option. Just want to be sure I've got all bases covered.
 
IU stands for international units. I currently feed a stud balancer (500g per day) and 200 mls of oil per day and my balancer has 800 IU of vit E per kilo, so plenty for the amount of oil I am giving. I use the Baileys stud balancer.

The answer is yes you do:) The most cost effective way is feeding a veg oil with the added vit E and if you buy Flora or Lidl it says on the label "with added vit E" so if it doesn't say that on your current oil it isn't:) Much more cost effective than feeding a balancer:)
 
Thanks K - that's really helpful I feed that balancer too, so I think we're ok!!
