Do they get naughtier?
My 26year old is being a right pain in the backside
seems to be feeling very well in himself.last night he decided to take all they haylege out of his hay bucket and dump it outside he also decided the rugs hanging up would be ideal to wee on.
and what happend when i came in and confronted him he just offered me kisses -_- hes also decided he does not want his rug on queue my dad ringing me up complaining as it had taken him 15mins to put his rug on as jack kept taking it off.
Cant complain its lovely to see him being so cheeky as what ever happend to him before i brough him from auction must have been horrendus hes covered in scars and struggles to completly trust people even me and its been 7years but anyone elses oldie got cheekier?
 
He looks so well! What a lovely shiny coat :)

I guess whilst it is a little annoying- just enjoy him being cheeky and feeling well- Im sure the day will come when he won't feel well and you'll be able to look back on these moments and laugh!
 
Second the comments- he looks amazing!

My pony got naughty when he was old but I think it was more because I was soft on him (he was late 30's and had done his time!) I let him get away with naughtiness as I was so happy he was still around to be naughty!
They probably pick up a few tricks along the way also ;)
 
As above our oldies are allowed to get away with murder. Frequently take detours into yummy bushes and our real oldie seems to aim for your feet and will happily walk through you. As long as it's not dangerous they're allowed to do what they want really!

On the flipside if I want them to behave (loading/walking in public/kids around) I just have to think it and they're on best behaviour. And you can dump haylage on their heads and they wouldn't notice, all laid back... When not hooning around the field!
 
He does look in good condition!

Our piebald cob was with us for over 20 yrs and had been owned by a professional horseman before us, so knew exactly how to behave and was used to doing so. However as she got older, she let herself out of her stable and wandered around the yard, frequently. When we put her in a different stable, with a rope across, she limboed under the rope. She would grab a snack from the trees and other plants as she went from stable to field. She loved to get into the garden and eat mint! And yes, she got away with it all, she was definitely spoiled - but she owed us nothing.
 
Yes he gets away with murder but because he old ( older than me!) he gets let off its nice to see him enjoing himself when i suppose where he came from he probley wasnt in a happy place.not looking forward to my weshie reaching this stage hes cheeky enough already.
 
He looks absolutely adorable.

And yes, I do think they get a bit naughtier (well cheekier at any rate). All of my are equine geriatrics and I'm sure that they've swapped stories and connive to gang up on me at times - whilst one is up to something and distracting me the other 2 are usually up to something far worse . . .

I also let them get away with much more than I should, theyre just soo cute and cuddly and don't really mean any harm. They behave whenever someone else is around so that's fine by me. They've had their years of 'conforming' to what people think is the correct way to behave and now it is time to chill out, so unless they're likely to hurt themselves or someone else I dont mind too much what they get up to.

Your old boy looks lovely. My oldies are really pretty well behaved tbh although my 36 year old does like to constantly jog when we're out riding. If he were younger no doubt I would make him walk but I figure he's a real old guy now, he loves to go out for rides, so I just let him do whatever he wants. He's earned that right. My daughter's retired little childhood pony has always been a good girl and has never put a foot wrong in all the years we've owned her. The old one who died earlier in the year was 40 and he could be a little beggar, but he was a falabella and maybe was always an old goat when he was younger so I don't know if he got worse as he got older.

The 21 year old big ginger pony is cheekier than ever! She's becoming a right little moo when she's tied up. She's fine tied up in a new environment but at the yard it's all way too exciting... Mind you she went so well at a sponsored ride the other day we'll let her get away with it ;)

 
Alf has been good all his life, until now! He is definitely getting naughtier now that he isnt in hard work - proper drama queen. I brought him in the other day to use him as a demo horse for the cryotherapy machine that I have used on him COUNTLESS times. The physio who came to collect it started off being quite hands on, until he started jumping and snorting like a dragon every time the machine cycled itself on and off - and every time the hoses moved. He is a wally - but he makes me laugh, and there's no malice in him!

Old lady has got worst in her old age..24 now and just enjoys walking around like a free range chicken! She's had a horrid year though ,nearly dying, so she's allowed to just do whatever keeps her happy.
 
Yes!! Our oldie is so naughty :p

I think though it's because he's cute and old and doesn't have to work we let him get away with a LOT.
 
Hes 26???? What a cracking "young" man and a credit to you. lol @ at his naughtiness. come admit it. would you change him ? He looks so cheeky in the photo .x
