size 8, look great in a pair of breeches and always wear my hair in a hairnet dressage rider!

I went to Oldencraig on my birthday for a lesson on a schoolmaster.....and made quite a few dressage 'mistakes':

Wore my pom pom riding silk
Had a pink tshirt on
Was fat

ha ha

All the instructors were so elegant and such quiet riders...felt like a complete muppet!

Although have to say one of them was obnoxious and apparently asked 'when I was getting out of the way' of her schooling. She also insisted on smacking the cr=p out of each horse she got on....

Good experience though - maybe I'll go back once I've lost a few stone!

I took pleasure in watching the PSG dressage at Hartpury earlier in the year when I saw people fatter than me doing dressage and several riders seeming to be incapable of square halts

I want to be a size 8 too (have a few to go before then though

ha ha! I rode a 33 year old ex PSG horse and it was amazing. His walk to canter was like floating on clouds!

It's really made me determined to get to elementary level with Oscar (at least) so the poor man is in for a winter of schooling me thinks!

I have a professional dressage rider where I livery my horse. She rides at least 4 horses a day, grooming them before and after, also makes a few trips to the field. All this without getting a hair out of place or a dot of dirt on her breeches.

Me? I only have to look at a horse and I seem to be covered in its' hair.

I avoid even the basic ridden classes at local shows, as I am in fear of making a t*** of myself- although i am not a size 8, by no means am i hefty....and my riding aint half bad- its just that I'm not olympic standard so i won't do it in public.....I was spotted at the weekend, (whilst in the ring with my daughter- who being 5 has no issues at all-) staring open mouthed at a couple of absoutley huge crap riders in the next ring doing a ridden class.....perhaps we should take a leaf out of the somewhat larger, somewhat crapper, somewhat who- gives- a -s***- type person...as they were obviously having a good time, even though it was p******it down.....

Don't know where that came from...have obviously gone demented at work and need to go home

When I was small my ambition was to be the first ever person to compete in the olympics as a eventer and as an ice skater.

I cant do neither right!

Who was your lesson with? I take it you rode Charlie.

Well, some of them school 10 or 11 horses a day so its not surprising they're pretty trim. Not sure who is was that was being obnoxious, they're all very helpful, especially if you are keen to learn.

mmm it was the new girl there - very experienced but just seemed a bit of a cow. Maybe a bad day.

I rode Beetle....such a grumpy lovely horse! ha ha

my lesson was with the tall dark haired stunningly pretty girl!

Oh right. Lol, yeah the work load can get to some of the new people! Oh Beetle, gosh I didn't realise he was so old.

Michelle is fab. She's riding my horse this month for me.

But yeah, she has the perfect shape for a dressage rider and is stunning! She is doing really well, has qualified her horse for International 5 Year Old etc.

The other trainer I would recomend is Eileen, she is amazing. Bit more expensive but well worth it, or even just to watch her. She has a very classical and quiet approach to riding and horses. She is the best trainer I have come across (and I've had a fair few!) Actually, I believe she might cover the area you are in (saw your other post) as she teaches freelance as well.

I didn't know she did freelance? Don't supose you could get her number for me could you?

I watched a lesson with Eileen and thought she was AMAZING!

I am a size eight, I'd look ok in breeches if I could find a pair that fit properly without sagging round my backside, and I loathe hairnets... and I managed my first few steps of canter half pass today

I don't think that makes me a "proper dressage rider" yet though, because my other ride today was to take a certain event horse out for a hack... we almost literally went at 90mph and I loved it, so I am definitely still addicted to speed as well as the dressage!

You have made me jealous now though, I reeeeeally want a lesson on a schoolmaster!
Oh, and... is pink not "in" now then for dressage??!

I'm a size 8 and found Cavallo Chagalls fit well. In fact, after one wash they were a little tight round the waist!

Parkranger have pmd you.
