Visit site
search by a specific item ie Mark Todd Turnout Rug or do you make it a more general search ie Cheap Horse Rugs?

I'm trying to build my website and use effective keywords so all your help on this is much appreciated!!!

Any keyword suggestions are also greatly received

I would search the name of the rug first, then look at popular sites that offer bargains, then possibly use a word like sale, cheap, bargain in my google search.

It depends what I'm shopping for, but by and large I don't ever use the word 'cheap' to search. I don't care what I pay so long as reasonable, what interests me is
a) do they describe it properly such that I can ascertain that it'll fit and will be as described (so many rug sites for example assume I know what all the terminology means and what eg 1600 'means' -I do know now but as a rug buying novice I didn't, I don't want to read the manufacturer's jargon as it's on their website I need to know your opinion of 'best for a chunkier style horse because ...' or 'ideal for deep bodies borses but not so good if your horse is short in the body as this is a long rug...' etc) The more keyword rich content the better for the search engines

and
b) is it in stock and
c) is it a secure site and complies with current legislation eg is it secure when I go to pay has it a name and address and a 'real' telephone number as opposed to a mobile and
d) do other people recommend the site.

I think for rugs I'd have pre-decided the make or type of rug I was looking for before searching, but would stop at a known/trusted website.

Do you mean on a google search? If so I'd make my search quite general, "horse rugs for sale" or "heavyweight turnout rug" or whatever unless I had already decided on a brand.

But generally I'd go to a site I know and like first, say rideaway or robinsons or whoever and search their site.

Within the site, I like to be able to search by category and then order the results by price.

Consider being able to search for all products by a manufacturer and also for all turn out rugs, as some people will prefer one and some the other.

Not really helpful when you're trying to build a business but I will look at online shops I've used before, or other people have recommended and had good experiences with for what they are selling first, and ebay, as I'm wary of paying for goods on the internet with an unknown quantity.

Having said that, what I'd really like to see is online shops show what stock they actually have in and realistic estimated delivery dates for stuff out of stock, and to be able to search by size. I've been looking for pony rugs this winter, I want to know what the seller has in x size, not spend hours looking at rugs thinking is it the cut/denier/whatever shape I want, and then find out its out of stock in my size and start the search again!!!!

Oh yes, and as Dubsie says above, an actual contact name, postal address, landline, etc so my money is not just disappearing into thin air with the only contact being a "contact us" blank form on the website.
