When looking at sale videos - what do you want to see?

Stood up in hand - video to walk round horse, stopping on each side, rear and front for a few seconds.
Then led away and bac, in walk and trot - in a straight line to camera and then panning onto side view.
A short walk trot and canter on each rein, showing transitions up and down - NOT cut to just show a few strides of nice stuff, to hide the hump or jink or going onto wrong leg etc.
Popping jumps if required, maybe a 30 second clip of roadwork if thats required.
The better ones also show loading, clipping, competing etc too.

To sum up, a very short cracking teaser of a vid on sale post, then a 15 - 20 min one that can be sent out to those who ask for more.

For me I would want :

The horse stood up as you would in the show ring, so each limb can be seen from both sides. A shot from behind with the tail to the side so i can see nice clean hocks and likewise from the front showing me a pair of front feet. Action shots would be walk and trot in hand followed by ridden in all 3 paces with the transitions. If he is a jumper a little clip of him going to the fence and jumping nicely with the canter away.

A comprehensive video could be done to send on if the buyer is serious.

the best videos I saw were put on youtube so easy for anyone to see. there were a few and covered the horse walked and trotted in hand away and towards the camera. then mounted and ridden to the arena. ridden on both reins at walk trot and canter with no editing and I think had it standing still while the girth was tightened by the rider (or that may have been a different horse). think next was of horse popped over some jumps. then ridden out into a forest and trotted and cantered down the tracks. back at the stables tied up untacked and boots removed. then led to the field and turned out with other horses recaught and let go again final bit was horse and friend wandering off to eat. It was designed for someone to have a good idea of the horse before they travelled any distance and was accompanied by very good pictures of conformation shots from both sides and legs from in front and behind with a plain background so nothing to distract. there must have been about 20 mins in total. not suggesting you go that far but it does give you an idea of what can be done.

This is probably the best I've seen:-)

Nice video but not particularly helpful if you were looking to buy. I prefer to look at uncut clips of the horse doing walk, trot and canter. This video is too edited and there are too many short close-ups.

A good clear view of a standing up horse, pausing each time for a few seconds with a still camera position. Also unedited clip of appropriate schooling level. I hate it when the clip cuts out, what are they hiding. Also a decent light, half light videos that you can only see the horse on one side of the school. Wait for a bright day!

I was about to say the same about short clips. However nice the moment included is it makes me focus more on why they had to cut so quickly. I want to see the horse doing a consistent activity including transitions which tells you far more than five second snippets where it happens to look okay.

Personally I would not bother viewing a horse that required a heavily edited video such as the one above; at least not based on that video alone so to me that kind of video is useless.

The above covers most of it, but is also like to see upwards and downwards transitions as well as the rider mounting onto the horse.

The video of the horse I bought also showed him standing in the middle of a yard, not tied up being bathed. It showed his temperament and manners really well. Today for example I parked him in a very particular way and told him not to move while I washed his tail. Didn't move a muscle.

Lol if someone asked for a video of my horse being washed they would never buy him. The only way he will even slightly behave is if you give him a lick and hold it for him while another person very quickly washes him. Without the lick it's like trying to bath a very large cat.

You are right, but at the other hand this video aims to say "this stallion has a particularly good character & is easy to handle". If these were qualities I'm looking for, it would engage my attention. Than I'd like to see other videos - say competition videos, tens minutes of unedited training session etc., and I would not skip them for being long and boring (yes, I plead guilty - when I'm going through adverts for months and have already seen hundred of videos, I tend to skip a lot...), because I'd already be interested.
And to make the buyer interested - that makes all the difference, imho:-)

Pretty much this, and NO annoying music in the background!

That video cuts out important stuff, the horse is shown being saddled and girthed up but not bridled up even though it wears a martingale and breast plate- I would wonder why, no confirmation shots are shown, the horse looks stiff behind in the very little walk that shows his hind end and is included, I would want to see a stallion ridden or handled around lots of other horses - not just one, very little in the way of flat work and transisions are included and I wonder at the training etc on a yard that has for sale footage of any horse that is being handled by people who don't at least have safety footwear on.
Too many close ups, too showy with no real info
