On a search of the net, it seems alot of people use drainpipes. Don't they blow off the cups, or bend/snap/split if they tread on them?

I already have three fences which have 10ft wooden poles and am keen to increase my collection to a "course". I'd ideally like some more poles of the same type if possible for the new wings which Duncan will make for me. I'm also going to get some barrel cups....after all we have several barrels dotted about the farm, all crying out for recycling!

Where on Earth do you get them from? I tried doing a search and all I can come up with are curtain poles......me and google don't get on, it's well documented!

Have you tried a local timber merchant? You may be able to get turned plain wooden poles that you can paint up yourself or put those pole sleeves on to give them some colour.

We got some poles from the local sawmill. I think they worked out at about a fiver each. Bit thinner than those you'd buy as jump poles but they worked fine for schooling and ground work

Drainpipes do work but you have to put some sand in them to weight them a bit then plug the ends. Main down side to them is that they are not much good to double as trotting poles as they can shatter if trod on.

I have got the plastic tubes out of the centre of carpets, they are thicker and tougher than drainpipes. Try asking your local carpet shop.

Fence posts and then saw off the point - we buy 8ft ones that are only 3 inches thick - smaller than BSJA standard but also lighter so easier to lift and makes the horse more careful.. in theory:p

I just used the arena fencing ... at that time my horse took a liking to destroying it (ie taking it apart rail by rail!) so got to use them as poles with buckets for a while!

Now, we have proper jumps, with cones and tyres at the moment ... plans to steal tarpaulin off my dad though!!!

We buy the 8ft fencing stakes here, but I really wanted wider fences really. Don't mind the odd narrow fence, but would prefer them all to be 10ft minimum.

I would imagine you would get a pair.....give them a call & check

I've just brought the page up & if you click on 'more information' this comes up:

From this it appears that you will get the pair.
