hi all,

i have had my 7yo eventer 4 2 years now. i have never hunted him as he is very excitable and when he gets like this he seems to stop thinking and goes absolutly mad!!

anyway over the last couple months he seems to have grown up alot and im now at the stage of thinking he is ready to go.

now heres my dilema ....

obv. now hunting season is in full swing and they tend to be busier now. would i be better of biting the bullet now and taking him when it is busy so he can get that experiance or would i be better waiting until next season and taking him early autum when its quiter and build him up to the bigger 1s?? i am prepared to wait to take him at the right time!

please help!!

Have been waiting for someone more experienced than me to respond, but I guess they've all gone to bed early!

Why not ring your hunt sec, and ask their opinion, they will probably know which days/meets will be busy or quiet.

Do you work/ go to school? I would think mid week meets are lots quieter- I know ours are, why not ring your hunt sec and see if you can get out mid week, I'm sure if you explain your situation to a hunt sec they can reccomend some smaller meets.

Echo Rosiie - Saturdays are usually pretty 'busy' being the day most people - and younger riders - are able to get out. A midweek day is likely to be much more relaxed. Ring the hunt secretary and they will be happy to help. Have fun!
