I have a warmblood gelding who will be 4 in June. He was lightly broken last summer and then as a joint decision with my instructor, I turned him away September time to just be a horse and grow, fill out and mature.

I just wanted others opinions as to when you would bring this horse back in to work?

The problem is I'm at a yard with no facilities so could only work him at weekends whilst it's dark in the evenings. He definitely seems physically and mentally ready to start light work again, however I wonder if I'm being too eager and should give him some more time (with his age there is no rush) and it would be more practical when the weather is better and the evenings light.

Personally I'd be minded to leave it till the spring (March time) when the days are longer and hopefully the weather is better. It won't do him any harm being left to think about things for another 2-3 months

Yes I think you're right, that would be most sensible. I can't wait for him to come back in to work :)
