Little puppy Boo can come home on friday 19th November.
We can only pick her up at tea time.

I'm having a panic - how do I introduce her to my older dog?

Was hoping she could come on the Saturday morning so we could introduce them out somewhere but thats not looking likely now.

Any ideas how we should introduce them at home?

There is a bit in that puppy guide re older dogs and pups, but literally if I walked in now with a puppy, it would be on my lap for the older dog to come and sniff around, then I would sit on floor and let pup scoot around and keep a very close eye on my older dog for any over selous behavior and correct as I see fit, stay close to pup but dont panic or make a grab, always best to warn the bigger dog first, then from there lots of contact but with you present at all times and no leaving pup in same room for a good while unsupervised with older dog, give older dog space and keep the puppy entertained yourself as to give the older dog peace and quiet and give older dog escape route at all times, then try and crate puppy beside older dogs bed for sleep times and feed times as positive association.

Thanks Cayla. Thats what I thought - just needed someone else to say we were doing the right thing. Iam experienced with dogs, just never had 2 before.

Stupid question but how long should she be in the house before we put her in her crate? Never crate trained before either - but think its a fab idea and determined to get it right.

The puppy guide was very useful, thanks.

I put hem in straight away, prob an hour of letting her explore, take her to the designated toilet area and a little feed if feed time is near, then in crate with a nice piggy ear with her comfy blankie and teddy bear sibling:D
The quicker she gets used to the crate routine the less stressing for her and the easier for you.
