Im planning on clipping my boy but im not 100% sure when the best time is?

we are going to a 3day show 16th-18th April and we will be jumping on all three days...

Currently he is in work to fitten him up... and TBH even after long steady canters...(over half a mile) or poping a few jumps (10ish) he is warm but not wet to the touch...

he is a cob cross so does grow a reasonably thick coat... but he was clipped around October time and doesnt currently get sweaty...

his work load will be increaseing a bit as i continue to get him fit...and the 3day show will be hard work for him.. and if we have some nice weather (fingers crossed) he will get hot and bothered...

i normally wait until he is geting a bit uncomfortable when working... which he isnt at the moment... but i do want to clip him before the show!
so when would be the best time to clip him...

when is too late (As in when would the summer coats normally start coming through??)

Thanks
Cookies for all xx
