okay well, last sunday my partloaner was leading my horse out of the arena and the gate "jammed" and apparently "rammed" into my horse, who freaked out, reared and got stuck over the gate. she scraped her back right leg and over her stifle bone.
we have had the vet out twice, on the day it happened(sunday) and the next day. on monday she said she was suprised how well my horse was coping as on sunday she had been telling us to prepare for the worst. thea has bute every night for her tea and an antibiotic with her breakfast. she is a bit clicky in the field but other than that she is, amazingly, 100% sound!!! i have been cleaning the wound everyday and hosing it down twice, and taking her out for 5-10 minute walks as she is in a small paddock during the day and stabled during the night. it's healing really well and the antibiotics etc seem to have done the trick.
when do you think she will be rideable again? should i get the vet out again just to check her over and give her the "all clear"(hopefully!!) or just give her another week and slowly bring her back into work? she has an awful lot of energy being a tbx and all!
