Hi all
I have some turnout and other rugs that my youngsters have outgrown (my attempts at growth stunting failed, damn them!).
I want to sell them on ebay but am not sure when I should advertise them? Is now too soon for MW turnouts?
Oh, I'm so useless at shopping - both buying and selling.

I've got a rug or two that I am going to put on Ebay pretty soon actually. I think this is the time of year when people do start thinking about rugs for the winter etc.

And quite frankly the weather has been so sh*te, that people are probably thinking about them right now.

Hi id wait another couple of weeks, as if you put them on now they may not make much as every one is still after Lw rugs, do you have any horse sales where you live?
We have them in derby and they do a 2nd hand tack auction, i take any rugs there the last lot i took made really good money as they were clean etc and not many people bother washing them etc so mine stood out and one rug made over what i paid for it new!! lol im waiting till sept/oct before taking mine....

Thanks, Keltic.
I always have my rugs washed and proofed, so will sell them clean and ready to use.
I don't know of any sales near me (Glos) as I'm a rugaholic and have to avoid temptation.

I may wait a week or two before advertising then...

Late September is a good time to sell on ebay if you are selling HWs so I would suspect MWs might do better a bit earlier. Prices seem to drop off in October and stable rugs definitely dont sell well from mid October.

I think there is something psychological about September and heading into winter which makes people think about rug buying!

I buy and sell on eBay a lot. Particularly rugs that my lot out grow annually. Best time to sell I find (for best bidding war amongst buyers!) is towards the end of September, beginning of October. Nights are starting to draw in, the weather's starting to get chillier and people are starting to clip or think about clipping, so start thinking about their rug requirements.

I wouldn't say that any time is a *bad* time as some people (like me!) like to be organised and I bought mine about 6 weeks ago. I had a signature saying that I was desperate for 5ft and 5ft3 turnouts but had no response at all and bit the bullet and bought 3 brand new turnouts and 2nd hand ones. A couple of weeks later I have found 2 people selling out grown turnouts from their youngsters

Thanks for the info...I am lacking the shopping gene in any form as you can tell.
FranSurrey,
My smallest horse now takes 6'3" as a 3yo...she was only Shettie sized when she was about a week old
