I have a really sweet cob mare that I will sell at some point quite soon. 6 weeks ago she was as green as a 3 year old (she is 15!!) but she is now capable of really nice walk and trot work. Her canter is still scramble and unbalanced but has improved: she now knows the aids and she does try, we get the odd nice moment in each canter. On hacks it’s a bit easier and she really enjoys a canter although I wouldn’t be able to slow it down. She’s safe and sweet, a nice hack. She has a nice jump which will be fab once the canter is balanced. She never stops.

Is it better to sell now as she is, or do another couple of months and bring her on more and wait for the better weather? Photo of said creature below.

I always aim for Easter, the nights are a bit lighter, and people are thinking about the next season.
I buy just after Christmas, and if it's not doing what we want we have the Easter market. I think it all depends on price, and who your market is.

Tbh the more you do with her and the closer we get to spring/ summer the more you'll get for her so it depends what your priorities are I'm sure she'd find a good home as she is as she looks lovely.

Personally I would work with her for another couple of months, get her out to a few small shows, clinics and fun rides etc. get her popping some small sj and xc and then sell but that's dependent on having the time and her not costing you a lot to keep.

Yes, agree. Wait a bit and do a bit more. One of the first questions people ask is "what has it done?" so to be able to say she has been to clinic/small show, etc is all to the good.

another who would wait a bit longer! for the reasons mentioned and also because i think many people who are looking to buy something around her age, are looking for something that’s done a bit - people wanting a project generally opt for something younger.

As she's a bit older I would be getting her canter a bit nicer and then selling. I think many people will be put off by her age if she's still a bit of a project. For many people she doesn't need to be a world beater but if she can w/t/c round an arena happily she should be very saleable.
