I have a yearling and a 2 year old who are both on a named brand stud mix, alfa oil, oats and speedibeet (all fed at the recommended level). They are out 24/7 and have adlib hay in their (open) stable should they wish to be indoors.

They are probably getting more than they need feedwise but the question is when do I stop feeding them studmix? It would be so much easier if there was a stud supplement to add to chaff - I could then turn them out on rich grass rather than keeping them on bare (ish) paddocks.

A stud balancer will do what you want. They give them all the nutrients they need to grow but without any calories, which they could then get from the good grass.

Thanks :) Do you have any recommendations? I can't find any up here - penalties for being in the middle of nowhere I guess...

When can I stop though? When they have stopped the fast growing or when they have stopped growing completely? My 2 year old is 14h3 and expected to make 15h2 and my yearling is 13h and is expected to make 14h2 just to give an example of their size and growth.

I use Baileys Stud Balancer for my yearling she now lives out on very good grass and Baileys Lo-Cal for my 10 yr old who is out by day and in by night, along with Hi-Fi and Sugar Beet for both,
