Hi All,

Quick question, I'm just worrying again but:

As I may have mention a few times :o my filly has had physitis in her hind fetlocks.

I noticed it about 4 months ago now and have been working on it as follows:

Stopped feeding for a short time and just provided hay, water and a mineral lick.

Finally decided on feeding her Hi-Fi chaff with D & H Surelimb (mineral supp) at the recommended amounts and a sprinkle of no grain 12% homeopathic mix (to get her to eat as chaff and minerals is quite boring apparently)

She was on very restricted turnout i.e tiny paddock followed by box rest due to other injury, then turned out again into small paddock during the day then finally about 8 weeks ago turned out into about 1 - 1.5 acres paddock but still stabled at night. She comes in at about 6.30 and goes out no later than 6.30.

She has been having her feet trimmed every 4 weeks and this last time 5 weeks on farriers instructions.

Vet has visited 4 times in the 4 months to check and treat the other injury.

Results:

So, the vets and farriers were never really concerned in the first place and said it was quite mild - she was a bit sore up and down hills and hind fetlock joints were a bit square and nobbly.

The outcome of all of the above is her joints now look pretty normal, nice tear drop shapes (the nobbles are still there but the vet said she will grow into those rather than them going completely), she is not lame - a little stiff in the mornings after being stabled but soon loosens off.

There is usually no heat in the joints - very occasionally a slight warmth but nothing too bad (more heat in morning after stabling)

She is looking well she could do with losing a kilo or 2 before spring actually.

So, my question is,

firstly how do you think this all sounds - would you have done anything or would you do anything differently now??

and also, with the weather being quite nice and not minus stupid temps anymore I'd quite like to get her back out. She is a baby and I really wouldnt have wanted her in in the first place had it not been for her legs but I am really worried that if I turn her out will the excersize be too much for her joints??

The vet as usual didnt seem worried but I am! Do you think it would do her any harm to give it a go?? I really wanted her out to maybe lose a few pounds before spring as dont want a growth spurt when the grass really starts to come through!

Sorry - really long ramble as usual!

:o:)
