When to vaccinate?

Hello,
I am after some advise please. I am looking to buy an unvaccinated horse, how long should I leave her settle in before I start her vaccinations?

I'm just about to do the same and I'm thinking if getting the first lot fine when she's being vetted, if she passes that is. I wouldn't wait!!

ASAP; my new boy arrived in the morning and was jabbed in the evening. Obviously vet won't do it if it's got the sniffles or anything affecting the lungs but anything else should be fine.

Check with the yard you are planning on moving the new horse onto, you may have to start vaccines before you move on (unless isolation provided etc). I've actually paid for vaccinations to be done before a horse came home as vet was due out to their yard already on a free vet visit and saved me call out fees.

Agree with above post, some yards insist horses are vaccinated for flu and tetanus before they are taken on livery, I know some people don't vaccinate if they are on their own land and don't go anywhere but I would still have tetanus in this situation, vaccinations are not that expensive it's re starting that can be costly and the call out fee for the vet.
