well, our yard is all friends so we all know eachother really, or get to know eachother though friends at our yard.

Anyway, YO is on holiday and i am looking after her 17.1hh mare Eddie.

Eddie has specific feeds (conditioning cubes and chaff twice daily and when in her stable she has 1/2 hay 1/2 haylage in her net)

anyway, i put ed's conditioning cubes in the feed room still in the bag to avoid having rats in YO's tackroom, and came down the next day and no cubes left and bag gone. its not like anyone could get confused cause she is the only livery that uses that feed room that has cond. cubes. anyway, opened new bag anf left it in YO's tackroom so no-one can use them.. but another problem. YO has a big box full of apples and big bag of carrots for ed, but the bag and box are now empty!?!
now YO's gone they are using all her stuff, as half of eddies haylage went missing too (again only horse on yard to have haylage) its so frustrating! tomorrow im going to put all feed and treats and open haylage in YO's trailer as no-one would think to look in there :P

and another problem - Eddie has a corral outside her stable, her spare stable and the spare pony stable. when YO is there no-one ties in there or lets their horses loose in there and if they do they thoroughly sweep it to avoid a telling off from YO. anyway, now she is on holiday, people are letting their horses loose in the corral, tying in there and washing their horses in there (and they are eating eds hay over her door
mad.gif
) and they arent sweeping so when i get down there and they are usually riding, i dump all their things by their tying spots and tackrooms (esp as ed chews everything) and then spend all my riding time sweeping the corral
mad.gif

last sunday i went out for a hack for 1 hour, and in that space of time 4 different people had tied in there, fed in there and left all mud/food/poo/hair etc in there and gone home
shocked.gif
i hadnt even tied eddie in there cos people had tied in there already knowing full well i would be down and wouldnt move their horses because "they got there first"

its sooo annoying!
i get give a list of instructions from YO about ed, and im trying to follow those rules the absolute max but inconsiderate young children are getting in my way.

i moved a load of stuff tonight + someones pony, spent 20 mins sweeping the corral and then had to muck out ed, so couldnt ride tonight and had to stick her out as had no time left for anything

rant over - sorry

ed in her corral

That is disgusting. They really need to be 'spoken to' rather sternly. I guess as friends, that would be awkward for you.

yeh its a big bummer us all being friends, and we're all kids/teenagers too
frown.gif
(well apart from YO and 1 or 2 others)

YO has spokean before about this, and we have been fine for a while but the minute she is away all hell breaks loose
frown.gif
they yards a tip cause no-one sweeps, jumps are left up and poos not picked up in the arena, feedbuckets are being broken etc it gets worse.

i love having a horse but i cant wait til YO gets back, boy will she hear all the stories
shocked.gif

oh and as i cant edit -

had a stern word with them sunday, none of them took any notice though as im not YO
mad.gif

ill start chucking their things on the dung heap if this carries on to the extent it is now!
wink.gif
grin.gif
(joke)

we'll see if it gets better, apples i took down today have already been used up nearly but others but no open haylage to steal and everyones on cond cubes as YO forgot to order more pony cubes and YM while YO's away hasnt got the time to go and buy more.

the corral thing will never be solved i know for sure.

So there is a YM on site, speak to them, it's their place to make sure the others behave!!

Chuck them on the bloodymuck heap, they are taking the piss.
Bloody fat kid deliberately locked me in the pitch dark tack room, light switch outside, this was a couple of winters ago at a different yard to where I am now, told her she would be sorry if she did, so I got a bucket of freezing cold water, chucked it all over her, she called me some very interesting names, she got her phone out and said she was calling her dad, I said great, get him down here now I want a word with him, she shut her phone up and her mouth, pain in the arse, one of the reasons I left the last place as she was a sod for taking stuff ect. always on a last warning from YO but she's still there 2 years later.

have spoken to YM and dont know what she has done, she has her 2 daughters at the yard but one is on DIY and has her own hay/haylage and the other loans one of YO ponies who is in the field

hmm, bet its the new horse owner, young girl of 10/11 just been bought a 3 year old cob who she can just about cope with but just wants to go out and win rosettes :O she was really disappointed with fifth at her first XC against 30/40 people on her old loan pony!

Stop tidying up after everybody else for a start, whilst you keep tidying they will keep leaving, they are taking you for a mug(tidy ya own mess and nothing else)!!!Tell the so called YM who at the moment sounds like he/she is doing naff all,it is their responsibility NOT yours!!Why should you forsake riding when they clearly are not!Write yaself a litlle log day by day so if you need a bit of back up when YO comes home you have it!She must trust you to look after her horse so i am sure she will sympathise with you on her return and kick some livery butt!!

good point, ill take camera down there for photographic evidence!

the reason i have to clear up is because i have to before i can take ed in there, i have various lotions and potions i have to put on but how am i meant to when shes standing in 2 inch deep cr*p? lol

i am seriously considering putting signs up to say keep out Maverick and Eddie only (Mav is on box rest and goes in Ed's spare stable during the day)

YM has ended up sweeping the yard twice a day bless her, her husband *tries* to harrow our arena but cant because of the jumps and sweeps eddies corral in the morning after mavs been in their, everyones taking the piss out of her and me!

i bet the minute YO steps back on that yard she will have an absolute fit!

im a big softy! god i have to toughen up
cool.gif

quote "im a big softy! god i have to toughen up"
I know it is hard especially when they are friends,but......friends wouldnt leave you with all that mess!!The photo thing is not a bad idea!!!They need to be told too that leaving poo in the arena(especially when you harrow it in)can damage the surface!!They will be the first to complain when it is not fit to ride on!!
Go for it with the signs,YO will see them too!!
Good luck, hopefully it can be resolved without to much fuss!Unfortunately there alot of kids/teenagers(adults to to be honest) that do not do tidying up,they believe they should be tidied up after!!(no reference to you
smile.gif
)!!!(People reading this DO not shoot me down
blush.gif
I am not putting you all into a catergory, lol)!!

You look after the YO's horse & tidy your stuff & that is it. Take photos if you must of the mess being left around & the laziness of the liveries in not cleaning up/ putting away jumps/ poo picking etc. You are there to look after the YO's horse, what the hell is the YM doing? It's their job to manage the yard not yours. If they can't manage the yard & keep a few liveries straight about what should happen on the yard then they shouldn't be there....but that's another thing for the YO to sort out on her return.

As for the yard being all friends, these aren't friends, they are taking the p1ss & blatantly stealing feed etc. They are putting both you & the YM is an awkward situation. As for the YM not having time to buy feed, that's rubbish, it's part of the job.

The YM should report all this to the YO on her return & action should be taken.....I think several should be given notice.
mad.gif

Definately say something! Just try and do it sympathy wise as it might make it go down better, ie. say you're trying hard to look after the horse but they're making life hell. And why should you spend your riding time clearing up after them!

Who's meant to be in charge while she's away? Toby_Zaphod's idea is good - taking photo's.

Stealing feed is unacceptable.

Well I am of the opinion that if the YO had been made aware of the issue and STILL left her yard and horses in the care of these kids/teenagers whilst on her jollies without a responsible adult there capable of asserting a bit of authority then she only has herself to blame if she returns to a complete mess.

I think you and the YO need to have a very very stern word and perhaps threaten to have them kicked out. Also, when mucking out/sweeping up, just dump it in their stable/feed bins etc. I'm sure things will soon change! It probably won't help the situation though but that's just the satisfaction getting to me!!!

Can you lock the entrance to the corral?.

[/ QUOTE ]

we cant, its a sliding bar
frown.gif

but problem solved i think!

no more feed or haylage or treats been taken, people move their horses out of the corral when i get down their now and quickly sweep where they have been before i bring eddie up, i think they sussed that i wasnt joking around any more
laugh.gif

i think this is the end of the sillyness, i have a feeling YM has said something as corral was spotless when i arrived
laugh.gif

and YO (who is the YM aswell normally, current YM is only doing this job while YO's away) was meant to be left enough feed, hay and bedding to last her 2 weeks. the reason she hasnt the time is she has a daughter in primary school, a daughter in senior school, 4/5 stables and 2 paddocks to muck out, a yard to sweep, hay / haynets to be done etc etc ect.

However, YM went out at got some more feed yesterday so the horses arent going to go hungry!

Problem solved (I hope) i didnt need my camera or to throw people on the dung heap!
