When will those that rescue dogs from europe work out...

I agree entirely, but I do wonder when a lot of dog owners generally will realise they have to hold onto them - I was only commenting today about the number of 'lost dogs' you see on social media daily, it amazes me how people are so careless!

It's not just the imports, sadly. I recently helped rehome a border collie to a work colleague, straight off the farm in Wales, she managed to lose it within an hour of being home and it took three days to get it back. All worked out well in the end but I won't be getting involved again!

I am also bemused by the amount of dogs claimed to be stolen rather than lost - if your dog is allowed to roam unsupervised, or you're a bit lax about closing the garden gate, I am 99% sure your dog has not been stolen...

I agree, Ive seen another post on fb today of a dog that was being brought over and they stopped in Calais for a wee break and the dog escaped.

I always tell my adopters of my foster dogs to keep them on a lead/long line for a month, I just hate seeing posts of newly adopted dogs being let off lead within a day or two of adoption.

I agree with Blackcob, lots of so called stolen dogs are escapees from the garden, if the garden isnt dog proof its only a matter of time before they go Awol, my own dogs are never unsupervised in the garden,

As well as fb I do seem to be getting a large number of local dogslost notifications recently and lots of supposedly stolen.

i think people adopt a rescue/street dog and expect it to be sooo grateful that it will never leave their side but many of them are feral and used to doing their own thing.
